Q: 1993 Nissan Altima - transmission?
My 1993 Nissan Altima started leaking a lot of transmission fluid. Prior to this the car was running fine. Any ideas what is wrong?
A: Chronically on the 93-95 Altima the input seal, as well as the output seal leaks bad after 80-90k miles.
If it is a standard trans. If it is an auto transmission, I would identify where the leak is coming from, the front, back, or bottom of the transmission.
If it is an auto transmission ten you might just be looking at replacing the pan gasket, if it is leaking in the above mentioned places as with the standard you will be looking at replacing either the input or the output seals.
Q: How do you remove the dashboard from a 1993 - 1997 Nissan Altima?
I am trying to remove the entire dashboard from my Altima. I almost got it off but it is still attached to something at the top near the windshield on both sides. I can't get to the area to unscrew or unbolt. Anyway if anyone had step by step directions on how to remove the whole piece that would be great!!! Thanks
A: I have no Idea...but go to your local Auto Zone store and ask for a Chilton's manual that covers that year... it will have step by step details along with pictures. I used one on an old caddy and was impressed. Good Luck!

A: you need to measure the studs and see how far apart they are. measure from the middle of one stud to opostie side stude. then do the same on the wheel.

A: Sugar in the gas tank is a really bad problem. You will have to have the entire fuel system flushed and cleaned. May require that the gas tank be dropped to do it. All the fuel lines and the carburator will have to be cleaned. I hope this is not a fuel injected car. Clean the fuel filter and replace the filter element. If it is then all the fuel injectors will have to be cleaned too.
I hate to say it, but for a car of that age it may be cheaper to scrap it and buy another car.

And, try your local library for Chiltons or Motors manuals
Also try pulling fuses out one by one (replace each time) to see what electrical devices are on each fuse.
Your local auto store has Haynes or other repair manuals with electrical wiring diagrams too.

does anyone know anything about the speaker size in a 1993 altima? I went best buy today and loved the 6 1/2'' speakers, but i dont know if they'll fit. the speakers in the back are only 25 watts ( i didn't check the front) and i hate them. i'm a jazz man and that doesn't support my needs. i actually dont care about the size of the speaker, i just know that i need atleast 50 watts or as close as i can get. i plan on replacing all 4 speakers aswell. so if anyone knows any information at all, i would greatly appreciate it. thanks a lot.

or just crutchfield.com it will tell you what fits, or just call their tech support and they will also help you select what you need exactly. once i called them looking for another amp to match the one i had, not only did they look it up for me and find it, but the suggested i got the scratch and dent model that they had it was only a surface scratch but saved me half the cost. worked fine. they are awsome with car stereo.

A: wrong wrong all wrong wow i can't believe someone has'nt got this one it's easy: put all the fuses relays all back the way it was then weather the alarm is on or off use the key to manually lock and unlock the drivers door the alarm will shut down and reengage the starter thats it hope you get it

A: Replace the master cylinder.
It has a rubbber boot at the back that prevents this and it is leaking onand into the drivers side florboard.

A: The Altima is a valid choice, forget KBB , the vehicle is going on 15 years old - CONDITION - becomes the only factor, at that age an Altima with 170K may be in better condition than one with 120K.
When you buy basic transportation in that age group the trick is to get a vehicle that will outlast your investment and up to $ 2500. range is not out of the question providing you get another 2 years with little maintenance .

The 1993 Nissan Altima GXE has an Aluminium/Plastic radiator. There is a hairline crack in the plastic tank.
Because I don't want to replace the whole radiator, where could I order a new radiator plastic tank ?

A: the dealer might be able to still get it or try the junkyard, if you really knew what you were doing you could take it off and melt the crack together with a hot soldering iron.
