its a fourcylinder.
A: Engine is designed to run 195 degrees any where from 185 to 210 degrees is considered normal. Engine temp in excess of 230 will turn off the A/C compressor.

A: i assume u mean car overheated. most likely is bad thermostat. it gets stuck closed and the antifreeze cant circulate thru engine etc. second possibility is u are low on antifreeze( which could indicate lack of maintenance or a leak). third: blockage in system. fourth: bad water pump. if i were u, first thing i would do is to pop radiator cap and see if fluid is up to neck. please do when engine is cold. let us knwo what happened.

have contact nissan dealer closest to home they tell me they dont have them. I know for a fact you can get extenders for your car from the dealer at no cost, as friends have from other dealers.Does any one have an idea as to where I can locate such an item?
A: There is a point at which dealers don't want to deal with money loosing jobs. So I can tell you this if you drive up on the service drive and have a service writer make a repair order for seat belt is not long enough the entenders will be provided at no cost to you. The dealer might not stock them. And they will order them for you. Nissan is the best about making right any problems right. Even 12 year old cars.
Q: Weird Squeak on my 1996 Nissan Altima Front Left Tire?

I just had this issue when I drove on a newly paint asphalt road. I heard the noise from my front left tire, and I am not sure is it caused by the rock or the sign to change my brake. Anyway, the noise kept coming even I did not press the brake. Any advice will be appreciated.

It is so expensive to have them done professionally, can i do it myself and which are right for my car?
A: Starting with the most important issue: Safety. You have to rent or buy a spring compressor tool to compress the McPherson springs and then replace the shock. That can be a dangerous endeavor even for trained technicians. Locally, I would try an auto parts chain that also has repair facilities such as Pep Boys or Napa Auto Parts. Finally, why do you think they need to be replaced? Is there any obvious hydraulic fluid leaks or physical damage? Is there any abnormal tire wear pattern that is strut related? Does the car bounce up and down excessively? What I'm saying is that before you repair something, there's normally a performance complaint of some kind. Replacing strut/ shocks is not a regularly required maintenance item like changing oil and air filters etc.

I think it's an STE or GTE or something like that but I know for sure the year,make,and model are correct just not the last 3 letters. I'm thinking of buying one and would like all the help I can get with some background on these vehicles.
A: Decent cars, they have numerous cosmetic issues, peeling apaint esp on bumber covers, dash peels up and defrost vents pop out, they also have a big problem with front main seal oil leaks. As I said, decent car, definately better than equivalent US domestics.

I started the car and drove it and noticed that these two lights were on. I stopped and tried to restart it and it wouldn't turn over. I jumped the car and it ran. I replaced the alternator and the problem persisted. I replaced the battery and the problem went away for a day and then came back. I checked to make sure the ground that went from the battery to the car was all right and it was. What else could it be?

My husband tried to look at the throttle and cruise control but can't get it to stick that way. He pulled on the cables and gas peddle doesn't move. He lubricated the cables and still did it once while in park. When he pushed on the gas it revved and he let off and it kept revving for a second.
A: the car is new enough to be fuel injected and it sounds like the throttle positioning sensor is going out it is electronic and tell the computer how much fuel to give the injectors based on the throttle position when the go out the car tends to have a mind of its own

A: I owned a 1997 Altima Limited Edition, and it was a great car. The interiors look a little cheap, but it has great function over form. The controls are super easy to use.
Handeling is decent for this car. It has an independent suspension, 4 wheel disk brakes and a 2.4L 4 cylinder that has good milage capabilities.
When I had mine, I averaged between 24-30MPG on the highway. But in order to get that milage, you have to be diligent on tune ups, oil changes, and not driving like a maniac.
They are fantastic little cars that are very underated.

My 1996 Nissan Altima has been having problems with its speed sensor for two years now. I kept getting it replaced to no avail. Sometimes the check engine light comes on and off. Also, my speedometer needle does not go up when I accelerated only when I am goin at least 35 miles per hour. I hear Nissans have a tendency to have electrical problems. I don't know what to do. Should I replace the speed sensor, it doesn't do any good.
A: instead of replacing the sensor have it checked for a faulty short in the connection and/or the gears that turn the sensor inside the tranny.The "check engine"will turn on because it needs that sensor input. good luck
