Q: Recalls for a used 2002 Nissan Altima?
I'm looking to buy a used 2002 Nissan Altima. It has about 90,000 miles on it. I've researched the car a bit and there seems to be quite a few recalls on it. I am buying the car from a private seller. If the seller hasn't done any of the recall things, will I be covered under them? Like, can I take the car to a dealer or something and have the faulty recalled parts fixed?

Q: How do I change the spark plugs on a 2002 Nissan Altima?
Is there any tips NissanTech can share? This is the first time I will be changing plugs on an engine with coils instead of wires. I figure I will remove the plastic manifold cover then see whats comes next. Any tips on how I can do this successfully without having to take this to the shop?

A: if its a 2.5 4 cly, its easy, you just need a 10 socket and ratchet to take the coil packs off. If its a 3.5V6 which i have its kinda hard, if you not the kinda average mechanic type of person, as for the intake manifold needs to come off to access the rear spark plugs. Hope this helps you!!!

Due to recent problems with my 2002 nissan altima constanly cutting out, I need to know exactly where the Crankshaft Reposition Sensor because I would like to replace it. I am pretty sure it exists in the distributor, but I don't know exactly where. Please help.

A: most common nisan cut out is cap rotor wires or plugs. most common no start is ignighter a small solid state divice next to or mounted on coil. crank position sensors were usually put in the timing covers (v6 only with distributorless ignition) if your car has a distributor the distributor is the position sensor by using a laser fired through 359 slots and one blank to a reciever oposite th laser(optical ignitio system) sometimes the shaft seal leaks a little and fouls the laser and reciever. cleaning will temporarily resolve!

Q: How do you change the fuel filter in a 2002 nissan altima?

A: If I were you and in your situation, I would definitely take the car in to a mechanic. It might take a little more to be fixed, but most manufacturers and safety experts recommend that you take it in for something like that. A friend of mine did his by himself and wound up putting it on the wrong way. I disagree with the answerer who said that you should have learned to do this stuff before driving the car because while you should know how to change your own oil and flat tires, a fuel filter should be left to someone who has been trained on how to do it. What I would recommend as far as the mechanic, go to the Nissan dealership in your area. They know your car. Don't take it to a quick lube shop or places like that. My fiancee took her car to a quick lube shop to get the transmission fluid replaced and we wound up having to have the car towed to another shop to have the problems they caused repaired. Q: 2002 nissan altima leaked coolant and wouldnt start?
My altima was making a noise like something was dragging on the ground, after that i noticed the radiator hose was disconnected and fluid was coolant was leaking..about 10 mins later the service engine light started blinking and the car just shutoff and wont start..im thinking the engine might have just been overheated, its in the shop..i hope no major damage was done..but i do have a warranty on it.

A: If the radiator hose was dragging the your coolant leaked out and your car over heated. Now the best you can hope for is the head gasket went out or it warped the head which can be fixed fairly easily by taking it to a machine shop and having it shaved flat but that is just a one shot package meaning it can only be done once worse case scenario is it cracked the block or heads both of which there is no fix they have to be replaced and both are expensive as far as the warranty goes the only warranty you will have is the one you get from the shop where you get it fixed

Q: i have a 2002 nissan altima and the heater only blows warm air when the car is driving, any ideas?
its a 2002 2.5liter. i replaced the temp. control module last year and all new radiator hoses and a coolant flush this year.

A: heater core. if you dumped Barr's stop leaks in the old radiator you might have plugged up the heater core

I have Bose speakers for my altima and can't figure out how to remove the stock speakers. any suggestions instructions or websites would help. the speakers themselves a re screwed in from the top, and there is a cover which i can't see how it would be removed without removing the entire top area where the speakers are located.

A: Look in the trunk at the under side of the speaker...You will see 4 plastic pop in style clips,you will need to squeeze these clips in with a pair of pliers,then push the covers upwards from the truck,then unscrew the speakers with a phillips screwdriver

A: EPA estimated fuel mileage for both of these cars is about equal IIRC - and back in 2002/03 I sold both new Mitsu's and Nissan's. 29 highway, something like 23 or 24 city for both. There is certainly not enough difference between them in terms of mileage to make that a deciding factor. The Altima gives you so much more room it is clearly the better car to have. PS Both the Altima and Galant are considered mid-size cars by the way and both use in-line 4-cylinder engines, not V4's.

I took my 2002 Nissan Altima to a local dealership for a regular motor oil change. The mecanic drain my transmission oil instead of motor oil and overfill the motor oil. A: Take your car to a different dealership and have them check it out. I assume that something brought the error to your attention such as drivability problems.

A: Cars with controller area networking CAN have codes stored in more than one place up to seven computers all talk to each other. So I reccomend repairing the cause of the check engine light first. Only a Good technician at Nissan can completely test your cars systems. There is not a wire the owner can unplug to clear the engine codes. And there is no GENERIC scanner that can test all the other Nissan systems.

I bought a used Nissan Altima (2002) and they gave me a keyless remote buy did not know how to program it. Can anyone help?
