Q: 2006 Nissan frontier clutch went out with only 12230 miles on it?
i bought this truck brand new. its still under warranty. but the dealer says if its the clutch plates are worn out that falls under "maintenace" and wont be covered. clutch plates being worn out at 12000 miles just doesnt seem right to me, any suggestions about what i should do. thanks for your help. and i dont ride the clutch!!!

A: ell excuse my mouth but that is bull shit. The dealer is trying to cop out, the clutch adjust itself automatic and there is no maintenance you could have done. The clutch is hydraulic and there is no adjustment you could have done to prevent it. First talk to the service manager and tell him what I said. If he cops out go over his head and talk to the dealership owner. . If it is still under warranty and thy have to fix it. As long as the warranty is in effect thy have to fix it. Tell them to stop wining and get off there ass and fix the dam thing.

Q: I own a 2006 Nissan Frontier. At night, approaching headlights create a "double vision effect". Solutions????
The closer the lights get, the double glare goes away. There are no obvious flaws in the windshield. Glass techs and Nissan folks I talk to, don't have a clue. It's not my vision, I don't have this problem with other vehicles. When looking thorugh the top or bottom 1/4 of the windshield, it goes away. My theories, it could have something to do with the curve or slant of the windshield, but that would be a design flaw and it seems that would have attracted wider known attention by now. I may go ahead and replace the windshield, but I would be really aggravated if that didn't cure the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

A: I was going to tell you to stop drinking and driving,... However I think you're right about the curve. Windshields are three layers sandwiched together and somehow your windshield has come delaminated or never was. Before you go buy a new one, go test drive a Nissan frontier at night.

Q: I have replaced three starters in two years for my 2006 Nissan frontier. Why is this happening?

A: bad suppler try another one and see about a heat shield

Q: 2006 nissan frontier towing cap.?
I have a 2006 nissan frontier 4x4 with the towing package. Right now I am towing a 19ft camper with absolutely no problem (have hauled it many times and my truck does not budge when I hook up) gross weight is 5877 hitch weight is like 280. my question is do you think I can haul a 26ft coachmen travel trailer? It's gross weight is around 7000 lbs and hitch weight is 580 lbs. My other option is a coachmen captiva 28ft 6800 lbs with hitch weight of 630. I'm torn between the 2 but don't know if I can haul either of them! Let me know what you think. I looked at a ford before I bought the nissan....the nissan is more american made then the ford. My truck was built in TN. but this is dumb so whatever!

A: Think the tow capacity is around 6000pounds on your truck. It may handle it but you should at least invest an external tranny cooler for your truck, you can find them at summitracing.com, go with the B&M supercooler it is about $45 and takes about 1 hour to install yourself. This will keep your tranny from overheating on the hills, for sure your motor and diffs will take the weight so your only worry will be the tranny. That is inless you have a 5spd which you didn't metion but in that case you have no worrys at all. Good luck!

Q: Follow up 2006 Nissan Frontier question?
In an effort to improve fuel savings for the 6 cyl Frontier, , will adding a Cold Air Intake really improve fuel mileage? Is there anything else you can do to the 6 cyl that will improve fuel economy?

A: ummmm,ummmm,ummmm no

Q: Does anyone now what vehicles are compatible with the bolt pattern on a 2006 nissan frontier?

A: keep in mind there are 3 components to wheel fitment: 1: bolt pattern: 6x4.5 there are not too many vehicles out there with this bolt pattern, dodge dakota's (before 2004), dodge durango (spelling) then the 05-06 nissans, the frontier, pathfinder 2: Hub Bore: these are specific to each vehicle, the middle hole of the wheel. I cannot find info on the frontier. 3: offset: how much a wheel sticks out, or tucks under a vehicle. the frontier has a higher offset, 30mm or so. Other "truck" wheels will probably stick out a little on this suv. If you put these factory wheels on another truck they may tuck or hit the brakes. test fit any wheels

Q: 2006 Nissan Frontier 4 cyl 5 speed 2wheel drive auto trans?
I have returned my truck to the dealer twice and he said this is normal. When starting from complete stop it seems that the transmission has a slight bump just when starting (as if it was not completely in gear --- has anyone else noticed this who has the same vehicle. It has 9000 miles and has done this since I got it --- It does not seem to get worse but my previous toyota was completely smooth and I can notice the difference

A: i have not seen this issue before but if you have an issue I would go higher than the dealership and contact Nissan due to the dealership's steps to satisfy you as the customer . As a technician myself I always try to duplicate the concern before i call the customer crazy and say its normal.. something as simple as a test drive with customer helps me get on the same page and identify their concern(s) .. Which will assures the customer that the vehicle will be repaired properly ....

Q: 2006 Nissan Frontier question?
Im thinking about buying a 2006 Nissan Frontier crew cab. I really want to go with the 4 cyl but most dealerships have more selection in the 6 cyl version. Is the difference in gas mileage between the two engines that noticable? I will be doing mostly highway driving to and from work. Also, any other thoughts on the 06 Frontier please include. Thanks.

A: The QR25--2.5 4cylinder will get better economy The VQ 40 is a better engine. worse economy. you will notice the difference in fuel economy I recomend you step up and by the VQ40 six cylinder the 2.5 is going to be a little gutless especially at higher altitudes. note the 2.5 is two wheel drive only. get the 4.0 six and the six speed manual transmission. Im a nissan tech

Q: How may I install factory cruise control on a 2006 Nissan Frontier?

A: i would suggest buying an 06 WITH cruise.if you are going to buy new, then buy what you want.

Q: how do you take a rear view mirror off a nissan 2006 frontier?
To put a different one on it I dont want the glue part off. I want to put a different one I bought Is there anyone that has a 2006 Nissan Frontier SE? I don't see a screw or anything to push on the mirror.

A: Look under the mirror and you will see a small screw that holds the mirror to the part that is glued. Loosen the screw a few turns and remove the mirror by sliding it up.

Q: i have a 2006 nissan frontier nismo 4x4. Now what performance parts can I buy that won't bypass my warrenty?
I was thinking of a cool air intake but since I go off roading wont that be to close to the ground and suck up to much dirt? do you think a regular intake would be better? what else can you guys think off.. thanks!

A: i know with toyota lexus scion you have to get trd parts toyota racing development see what nissan offers also a ram air is almost the same but rests much higher theyre more about increasing flow rather than gettin cooler air

Q: how much for a line-x or rhino spray-on bedliner for a 2006 nissan frontier?
2006 nissan frontier king cab. 6 ft bed. can it be lined only on the bed and not up the side? which one is more cost affordable? any other liners that is good? thanks in advance.

Q: How reliable are the 2006 Nissan Frontier 4-cylinder pickups?
I am in the market for a great gas getter and a reliable vehicle. I know the Frontier boast 25mpg which is not great for a four cylinder, but they are a lot cheaper than the Tacoma. However I Know Toyota's rep for unbreakable and I wonder how reliable the Frontier is.

A: Now I may be biased because I work for a Toyota dealership, I am not a salesman though, I don't know much about Nissan's, but I do know that Toyota's have a much higher resale value, and you wouldn't believe how many miles these trucks can have and still run great, they may be more expensive, but it seems to really be worth it in the long run, whether you trade it in, or keep it forever

Q: How much does it cost to have a windshield replaced in a 2006 Nissan Frontier 2 door pickup?
I would prefer to go with a name brand like safelite or portland glass, the truck in located in NH, and I understand most glass installers will install at your location does this cost extra?

A: I had a windshield replaced in my driveway by a company in michigan , it took about 30 minutes and cost $155.00. there was no extra charge for a home visit.

Q: Can you reset the low tire indicator on a 2006 Nissan Frontier without bringing in in to the dealer?
I added air to the low tire and the light still remains on. Is there some type of reset switch?

A: If the light is on steady, not blinking. Check the pressures in your tires. Fill them all to about 37 psi. Drive at speeds above 25mph for about 2 miles. The light will turn off. If you have one low tire then most likely you have a nail in your tire or you're leaking from you tire sensor. So have it fixed. If your sensor was blinking then you have a malfunction with one of the sensors. Then you would have to take it to Nissan. And no there is no reset switch. And not all spares are equipped with a TPMS.
