I'm working on the passenger side of a 1989 Nissan Maxima and I'm trying to pull the CV Shaft out. The spindle is out of the way and I took the 3 bolts out of the bearing retainer and the shaft still wont come out. Could the bearing retainer be rusted? How do I break it loose?

A: Either get a puller (usually loaned at auto parts stores) or try popping it out with a crowbar but be carefull prying against the case (put a piece of wood between the pry bar and the case).

Remember, car was driving fine before the install. Thanks again! Got the tires balanced today, car is running fine now. Thanks for all the info.

Q: I need to know where is a good source to find info on my 1989 nissan maxima?
I have a gas leak some where and I can't find it. I know for sure it is under the hood. I asked a car dealership if there were any recalls on that car. There were, but not concrening my problem. Can anyone help?

A: Nissan had a recall on your car. Any car with the 30VG engine (3.0L V6) needs to have its fuel injectors replaced because the gaskets start to leak fuel. I would go out and buy a shop manual for your car. try to get one from the dealer that is specifically for your car.

Q: Any place to buy custom parts for a 1989 Nissan Maxima?
I have an '89 Nissan Maxima I just love and I would like to make a few body adjustments to it such as clear turn and tail light covers, also any good sport exhaust system that anyone could recommend for it would be great. I know this isn't really a car to trick out but I just want to. The guy at pep boys laughed at me about it lol.

A: I would check out maxima.org if you haven't alreadly, it is a great place to find out how to do modifications and general info on the car. I have heard the Borla exhaust on this car and it sounds very well. A Maxima is not usually the car people trick out, especially an 89 but it is definately unique.

Q: How do you reset the door security code for your 1989 Nissan maxima?
Doors have buttons but I cannot find the code to open the doors. I know they work because I can close them with a one touch button .

A: The smart entry control module with number code is located just above the glove box on the A post . I take out the glove box write down the 5 digit code number push the code number in the door handle and while it is solid beep enter your own code. Do you have a owners manual.? There are few of us old dinosaur Nissan Mechanics that remember those cars. You can even roll down the windows with the touchpad.

Q: where is the low side service fitting for a 1989 nissan maxima?
I am trying to recharge my ac in my 1989 nissan maxima but can't find the low pressure valve. can anyone help me?

A: If you cant locate the fitting, maybe you need to let someone who is famaliar with a/c service do the job. Did you find and fix the leak. If not, you are just wasting your money as the refrigerant will just leak back out. Also, and most importantly, has the system been converted to r134a? R12 was still being used in 89 and you cant mix the two refrigerants. You stand to damage the compressor and other a/c system components if you try to recharge it yourself.
