I recently killed my car in 1st gear, and after that it ran bad, wouldnt stay going if i didnt have the gas floored... My dad, took off the distributer cap, and scrapped off some corrusion, but now it wont start at all. Any ideas on how i might fix it? or maybe whats wrong? Thanks. btw its a 1990 Nissan Maxima.

A: i would check to see if your timming belt jumped,verify distributor ignition rotor turns while cranking,use spark tester to verify spark.

A: You may need to remove the bumper cover to gain access to those fasteners? Ask at a collision center perhaps as they see this sort of thing more often.

A: since gears in the trans are mooved by fluid pressre, i would first check the fluid level. if fluid level is ok, have a shop check the shift solenoid to see if it is the cause or have a screen. if these are ok then you will need to get a new trans. try a junkyard that will supply and install the trans so if it is defective they will switch it out for free.

Q: My 1990 Nissan Maxima collects anti-freeze in the right rear floorboard HELP!!!?
I noticed that I started adding anti-freeze fluid to my Maxima a cup a week. When all of a sudden I noticed the floorboard in the right rear (ONLY) was wet. As I pulled up the carpet I confirmed it was antifreeze due to it being green and the smell. Does anyone know why this is?? I need help!!

A: I was going to say heater core as well, until I saw that you said right rear footwell. . . .thats different! Do you have a heater under the seats that warm the passengers in the back seats? might that be leaking? Or do you mean just the rear of the floorboard on the right is wet? I think either way its the heater core!

A: Depending on the diameter and the length a few dollars each. If you looking for direct fit replacement lines your not going to get them at a parts store. You can only get lines of different lengths with the fittings on the ends and you have to bend them yourself. Like I said, the lines are fairly cheap. No more then three or four dollars each. In some instances you may have to get a line that is longer then you need and then cut one end and re-flare it.

Q: why is my 1990 nissan maxima still shaking?
i just got a tune up and an oil change and my car still shakes, it drives better since the tune up but it is still shaking. the shaking gets even worse when i turn on the a/c. what could be the problem with my car?

A: the cars scared of Ur driving, and gets cold when U put the ac on?? seriously tho, if it shake while it just running, and not driving then it sound like U have and engine mount problem, or the engine is out of balance, i would hope for the first one, as getting Ur engine fully balanced, will cost a lot, and takes a fair bit of time too if it only when Ur driving U need Ur wheels balancing

Q: my 1990 nissan maxima lacks power this just happened out the blue when i hit the gas i get little to no power?
if i start the car and pull off everythings ok the first stop i come to and attempt to pull off it seems like the car isn't getting gas it barely moves then when it gradually picks up it runs fine until i come to a stop .its fuel injected and i just changed the fuel filter ,plugs ,rotor,dist cap,plugwires.the car has been running fine up until the other day.trannys ok its not slipping in first gear.

A: Ugh. You'll have to take it to a nissan dealer. Maximas are great when new, but as they get older, they have sssoooo many problems and you'll wind up replacing half the car before you or your mechanic find the problem. A: sounds like a alignment problem to me . check and see if ur tires seem to be wearing even, if thats dont seem to be the problem , them may be a cv joint problem, or a tire with a broken band ,
