Q: How much should it cost to replace a fuel line in a 2000 Nissan Maxima?
I had a nitrous kit installed in my car 5 years ago. I used the kit 1 time and then I took it off. I have though kept my fuel pressure gauge installed and it reads fine but my car sputters around 3500 RPMs. If I wanted to take out that gauge and put a new fuel line in my car, how much should I expect to pay for parts and installation at a repair shop?

A: $50-$150. Depends on where the fuel line is and how hard it will be to get in there.

Q: Where do I find the cabin air filter in a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE?

A: if its not a piece of farm or construction equipment, it doesnt have one.

Q: How do you replace the power steering belt on a 2000 Nissan Maxima?
I have already removed the drive belt, loosened the tensioner for the power steering pulley, and loosened the bolt on the tensioner. However the pulley won't drop down so I can put the belt on. Anyone have any ideas what I am not doing or what I am doing wrong?

A: Just one more 14mm bolt on the back side of the powersteering pump you will need a 24" extension a 14mm universal wobble socket and a light loosen that piviot bolt(located in a bad place) you have to work above the exhaust and between the exhaust and engine block. after that the pump will be loose but don't forget to tighten up everything when your done.

Q: What is the measurement for a 2000 Nissan Maxima muffler inlet/outlet?
I want to get a new exhaust tip for my 2000 Maxima. I previously had a Flowmaster 60 Delta Flow muffler put on. I can't remember what the measurement of it was. What is the measurement of the piping leading to the muffler?

A: I believe its 2.5"

Q: Can I use regular 87 octane on a 2000 Nissan Maxima if it says it requires 89 octane?
It says to use 89 octane/premium, but the price of gas is through the roof. Im just wondering if I can get by on using Regular. Im hearing from people who own them that they are using regular, and the car runs fine. Id love to hear from more people with Maxima's, can I use regular unleaded instead of premium?

A: 30 cents more per gallon than regular your car requires 91 octane to run at its best. 18.5 gallon gas tank completely empty would only cost an additional $5.55 to fill. That is if it was bone dry. OK the knock sensor retards the engine timing when it hears ping just not the cracking ping at tip in. Yes regular gas also gets less fuel milage. So lets say 25 to 26 mpg highway with premium fuel and you get 23 to 24 mpg with regular. For instance 26x18.5=481 premium and 23x18.5=444 or 37 miles less distance or just about the $5.55 you thought you were saving. Look at your owners manual section 10 page 3 fuel reccomended and page 2 for amount the tank holds. Many owners report even more than 3 mpg difference. I used the lowest difference to just show there is really not much difference in using the good stuff except longer engine life. During summer months with extra load on the engine A/C running the difference is greater between regular and premium knowing you are doing the right thing using premium fuel. Like it says on the gray sticker on the gas door "for maxium performance use premium fuel"

Q: I have a blown subwoofer on my 2000 Nissan Maxima se, any suggestions on how to replace?
My 2000 Nissan maxima se has the bose sound system and the subwoofer is an 8" and I need to replace it, preferably without having to go to the dealer, and I am hearing mixed advice, any help?

A: get new subs 8" or just upgrade to a new system get some 12"s or something. or you can get them repaired. you don't have to go to a dealership to get subs, so yeah. good luck with it.

Q: How do you change the rear brakes on a 2000 Nissan Maxima?
I need to change the rear brake pads on a 2000 Nissan Maxima (emergency) and I can't seem to get the piston back in the caliper to place back on.

A: Pistons on Nissans get screwed in . Go to Autozone, Pepboys or the like and get a piston compression tool. It will allow pressure to be put on the piston while you rotate it clockwise. You will feel the stop when the piston gets fully retracted. They go for about $20 bucks for a good tool and they are really worth it.

Q: Does anyone know if you can put a 2000 Nissan Maxima GLE in neutral if the car has no power?
Please only answer this question if you know for a FACT that my car model (2000 Nissan Maxima GLE Automatic) can be put into neutral with out any power. My car is totally dead and will not even get power if I jump it. I hooked the cables up and no power at all came on. So I would like to know if I can still get it in neutral without the car being on. I tried to do it for a while but to no luck. Me and a friend are going to tow it to the dealership and I am hoping that I don't have to put it in neutral. Keep in mind that I do not have access to the car now because it is not at my house. Please only answer if you are serious and you know what you are talking about. Thank you very much.

A: with most import you need power to unlock the shifter but you can take your center-console off and unbolt the safety mechanism to put your in neutral otherwise you need some power. some have keyholes near the shifter that can unlock it. some have a button,.the only option i see is the center console coming off

Q: Engine has been overheated and is making sounds 2000 nissan maxima?
I bought a 2000 nissan maxima that had been previously overheated and it makes a small knocking sound when i hit the throttle but ONLY when im applying gas. a few people have said it might be the heads, or the intake manifold. i just really want to get rid of this ANNOYING sound. can anybody help me out with some info ? ?

A: If it overheated as you said, that's probably why they sold the car. The engine is toast. I'd look into a good used engine and have it installed, be sure to get a warranty.

Q: What should i do to my 2000 NIssan Maxima?
I have a 2000 nissan maxima. It's white. I didn't do anything to it yet. What should i do?

Q: How to override 2000 Nissan Maxima Immobilization?
How does one override the 2000 nissan maxima's immobilization system? Car locked up won't start. After letting the car sit for an hour or so the cab lights come on upon opening door but after attempted ignition start everything goes off again.

A: Imobilizer did exactly what it does. Chip keys are necessary to talk to the ECM (engine control module)say it is ok, start up. TOW TRUCK TIME. That is the reason Maximas are not stolen very much.Get it to the dealer have two sets of keys and keyless remotes made. Don't cheep out now make two sets. You own a nice car keep it factory and it will be reliable. After four attempts with a faulty or non chip key the system gos into lock mode and won't start with even a correct key. So gather up all your keys and remotes get ready to spend 300 to make your Maxima right. : note some computerized Lock Smiths can produce correct keys and unlock your imobilizer and if you can find the correct remotes on E-Bay. E-mail me if you need remote programing instructions.

Q: Is getting a transmission flush on a 2000 Nissan Maxima a top priority?
Is getting a transmission flush on a 2000 Nissan Maxima a top priority?

A: Do not get the flush. Get the transmission service which is the same price - About $100. That's where they drop the pan and change the filter. That is all you need for the next 30,000 miles. This also changes more than half the fluid in the transmission. A question for you... Are you having troubles with your transmission? You can check the condition of the fluid by pulling the dipstick which is red at the handle. The condition of the fluid should be red and not dripping like water because transmission fluid wears down and gets thinner and doesn't lubricate as well. Also, make sure the level is right. I have a '95, same drivetrain and the level was a little higher than it was supposed to be. If you don't know how to check the level, read your manual or get someone else to make sure it is right. If you're getting this vehicle used, get the drop pan service. It certainly won't hurt anything and if you have had this vehicle for more than 30,000 miles, it's recomended maintenance. Make sure the correct fluid is used also - Dexron-III
