Q: I just got a 2005 nissan maxima. On the gas door, it reads "PREMIUM GAS RECOMMENDED". Do I HAVE to use it?
Or can I save a buck or two and use regular?

A: You can use whatever gas you like, but you SHOULD use premium. Some motors are meant to be ran using a high octace fuel for optimum performance. Most "regular" cars do not benefit from higher octace because the heat and pressure in the cylinder cause the fuel to combust prematurely instead of being ignited by the spark plug, in turn, causing poor performance.

Q: What item no, etc. bulb is the headlight bulb replacement for 2005 Nissan Maxima?

A: That's an unusual, expensive bulb and pretty hard to change. I replaced one not to long ago and no parts house had it so I had to get it from Nissan (Low beam and high beam are the same bulb). Had to remove the tire and wheel well plastic to get to it from behind.

Q: what is the front bumper ground clearance for 2005 nissan maxima?

A: Next time you have a question like this, try becoming a member of nissanclub.com, or just go to Yahoo autos, enter in the vehicle under used. They can then give you all the details for that particular car

Q: What fuel type should i put in my 2005 nissan maxima...?
i am about to purchase an 05' nissan maximain canada...there are conflicting views on whether to use premium or regular fuel. this website http://www.canadiandriver.com/buyers-guide/2005/nissan/maxima.php says to use regular fuels as well as the 2005 maxima owners manuel (they recomend premuim for improved performance). however i belive the gas cap on the maxima says "premuim recommended" which gas type should i be using? thanks alot

A: Most modern cars can adjust to use any type of gas. As the owners manual says, you might get more power when using premium fuel, but I doubt this engine is powerful enough to take advantage of the higher octane anyway. If the cost of gas is a concern, just buy the cheapest gas you can. There is no quality difference between any of them. If for some reason you hear pinging (like marbles dropped into an empty coffee can), then move up one grade of gas - but the modern electronic controls and sensors in the engine make it extremely unlikely you'll notice any difference. edit: incidentally, octane is a measurement of how hard it is to burn the gas. The higher the number, the harder it is to burn. In high performance engines, this allows the engineers to use more aggressive techniques to get more power, but those techniques make the engine hotter. To avoid the gas igniting prematurely, higher octane gas is used. Modern engines can detect when lower octane gas is causing the gas to ignite prematurely and the computer can force the engine to run less aggressively to safely burn the lower octane gas. So, you get a little less power, but the engine still operates perfectly normally.

Q: How to change my headlight bulb on my 2005 Nissan Maxima?

A: Remove the wheel and inner fender liner then under a white 4" cover you can only change the low beam bulb. High beam requires removing the head lamp housing. Do not attempt on the tire jack it is to unsafe to work under a car that way. Place a jack stand under the car.

Q: What size bulbs are in a 2005 Nissan maxima with H.I.D headlights?
Is it something that can be changed at home or is a trip too the dealer required...

A: dealer item, we have been having a couple cars where the transformers have failed. as for service it is alot easier to pull the front bumper off rather than fighting them in the car. before you buy a 200 dollar bulb swap sides and see if it works

If you can point me in the direction of a vendor that sells these parts, that would be appreciated. Thanks

I have looked at several websites with limited products. I have found cold air intakes, and exhausts. But that is about it.

And where can I take it to have it installed?

A: Not available from Nissan. Aftermarket you can get a Prestige car alarm system with remote starting. Intelegent Key with button on dash like the 2007 and newer cars cannot be put into earlier Maxima's. See even more reasion to trade up to a new $40,000, 2009 Maxima. But get it soon prices are going up.

Q: Anybody know where to get a black or silver 2004-2005 nissan maxima for 12,000 or less?
If not those cars anybody know of any safe styleish sedans or mid-sized suv's for 12,000 or less? I am looking for my first car but i dont want a put put or rag. I want something nice, classic, cool.

A: Well if your gunna be so picky then your going to have to keep updated on http://cars.com or http://autotrader.com and you can specify the car you want in a detailed search and hope there is one in your area. Personally for a first car the maxima is a bit big and i would personally like a civic better. There are not many cars like the maxima, you either have to go smaller or spend more money. HTH

Q: 2005 Nissan Maxima automatic has a hard/jerky downshift to 1st gear. Any ideas why this might occur?
Not sure what's the issue, but any help pointing me in the right direction is greatly appreciated! Unfortunately, it's no longer under warranty. Any other ideas?

A: Should still be under warranty. Check transmission fluid levels and if they are good, take back to dealer and let them check it.

Q: My 2005 Nissan Maxima SE sounds like there are birds living in when traveling at a slow speed. Why?
I bought my 2005 nissan Maxima brand new and it has always made this noise. I took it in but the guy said all nissans do that. I do not believe this. I had a 97 Maxima that did not do this. It only makes this noise when I go over speed bumps or when I accelerate at a low speed like when I stop at a stop light and as soon as I press on the gas it makes the noise. The noise is embarrassing

A: did you get the recall fixed?? there was a recall on 2005 altimas and maximas for chassis corrosion my 05' altima made that noise on speed bumps
