Q: 2006 Nissan Altima Vs. 2006 Nissan Maxima, which one is better to buy?
I am interested in purchasing a Nissan Altima or a Maxima, I was never interested in the Maxima until this pass weekend and rented one and i really liked it. now i know that i can not afford a 2008 Maxima, but i can a 2004-2006, but i also like the Altima too, now i have done some research and see that the Maxima car insurance is high, but i really want to know what are some of u all`s thoughts, if i got the Altima i`d get the 3.5. and if i got the Maxima i`d get the SE not the SL. and so far as to gas mileage , which one does better the Maxima or the Altima 3.5? i know the Altima 2.5 does good in gas, but that is because it is a 4 cyl.

A: The Maxima is supposed to be a luxury car. It has a bad turning radius and is hard to park in a parking lot. I would get the Altima, which comes with a 2.5L 4 cylinder and 3.5 V6, which is the same engine in the Maxima. The Altima is more practical and user friendly. I have driven both of these cars many times.

Between a 2007/2006 Nissan Maxima vs 2007/2006 Nissan Altima which would be a better fit for a college student? ( Don't plan to buy until spring 2010) I'll be using my car to commute to school, work, & to my national guard drills.

A: I'd go with the Altima. I think the V6 in those are more powerful than the Maximas.

A: It's a nice car, but your auto purchase should not be based on what other people think of you because of the car you drive. Test drive cars and buy the car that drives the way you want it ot and fulfills the mission you have for it... i.e. hauling kids, haunling yourself. is it comfortable. Is it fun to drive? Does it get good gas maileage? Can you afford it? 2006 Maxxima... probably not.

Q: Power window on 2006 Nissan Maxima not working properly?
Using the auto up button, the driver side window goes up, then comes down half way. I had this fixed a year ago and it is happening again. Is this something I can fix on my own? I think it is a timing belt adjustment. I just don't know how to do it. Please help...

A: Either the regulator is bad or its loose and you will need to pull the door panel to see which one it is and yes you can do this yourself..

Q: 2006 Nissan Maxima Stereo?
I have a 2006 Nissan Maxima. When I put a CD in I have a chance that it won't work. It'll kick the CD out 2, 3, 10, 20, 50 times (sometimes more), saying "Check Disc" or "CD ERROR F2". This happens with old, new, and burned CD's, so it's not the CD's themselves. This happens with CD's that never had a problem. I've noticed that the stereo tends to ruin the bottoms of the CD's, too - scratching them up something awful. The drawback is the CD player is built into the center console, behind it, and the large LCD display (where the nav is), connects to it. Special buttons are built into the console to function with the CD player. Since the player is hidden, any stereo system I'd buy would be worthless since the buttons and display would also be behind the panel, and it likely wouldn't interface with the existing buttons/screen. How can I replace it with a different system? Is that possible? Or can it only be replaced by another Nissan stereo?

A: It is still under warranty we replace the Audio units all the time see your Nissan dealer. I know of no other radio that will work with the Navi and steering wheel controls.

Q: Does anyone know where to find the fuel filter on a 2006 Nissan Maxima?


A: Hello, the fuel filter is non serviceable and is located in the gas tank. You no longer have to replace it as a maintenance. good luck

Q: Was the recall for 2006 Nissan Maxima addressed by the dealers?
Im seriously interested in purchasing a used 2006 Maxima SL and after doing some research on reliability and safety for the 04-06 (only ones w/ 5sp auto) I found a recall regarding the rear subframe that could fail on the 06. It stated that dealers inspected potential cars and replaced parts "as needed". I dont want to waste my time calling nissan. Please help! The dealer that has the car will not hold the car for me. Has anyone had to deal w/ this recall?

Q: Does anyone know if a 2006 nissan maxima would fit in 10by20 storage room?
I am renting a 10by20 storage space to park my car in while i am out of town. would it fit in there...i am leaving tomorrow and dont wanna leave it infront of my house. thanks in advance for any help

A: Measure your car...I think wal-mart is open; buy a measuring stick then return it when you are through using it. It sounds like a Maxima should fit though.

Q: how do i remove the upper console (where the map lights and microphone is )on a 2006 Nissan maxima?
i removed the one screw under the sunglass holder and i have the 2 corners closest to the windshield free. is the other side of the console attached with screws or am i just not pulling hard enough? thanks!

A: don't pull hard on it,,you,ll break it,,there may be some more screws in it,,look under anything like the lights in it,,i think they also have screws under them,,,and if I'm not mistaken it kind of slides backwards a little to remove it,,i took one down a while back ,and i remember it has a lot of screws in it,,i own a repair shop,,and do this a lot,,once it comes down so far you,ll need to dicconnect the wiring harness from it,,good luck with it,,remember take your time and don't break it,,there very expensive if you have to buy a replacement for it,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

It's already equiped with BOSE sound system. I have a 12' JL subwoofer and a JL amp. Can I add this with no complications? If so do I have to get an aftermarket deck or can I just use the stock one?

A: Dont let anyone tell you you have to replace your radio, your 2006 maxima came with a good radio and addin a sub is no problem. be ready to spend 100-150 on the install and it should come out cool.
