Q: Nissan Murano making a warping sound, can it be rotors?
My 2004 Nissan Murano makes this warping sound(sorta like wah, wah, wah, wah), which doesn't sound like metal on metal. The sound is very clear when steering right at most speeds. The sound is hardly there when driving straight, and it's not there at all when steering left. I originally thought it may be due to old tires and a need for an alignment. I put on a new set of tires, then had them aligned. The sound is still there. I feel it may be a warped rotor on the right side of the car but would like to somehow get more opinions before I go and have it checked. What else could it be?
A: It's brake pads. When you had ur tires put on, the mechanic should have told you you needed brakes. Since you have had that problem and noise, you may want to get your rotors turned or replaced. It may not fix the problem by only replacing ur pads. You hear more noise when you turn right because your master cylinder is on the driver side. So since the pads are worn and the rotors are bad, the master cylinder is pumping harder to compress the caliper. Once you let off your brake your still slightly compressed at your caliper due to the lack of pad. (it's pushed in further than the left). Thats why you have noise on the right. Get the brakes and rotors looked at. If you replace the brakes, replace the rotors or get them turned if you have enough metal. Don't let anyone tell you different. Also, make sure your master cylinder isn't bad. Bad cylinder means bad brakes. It's located on the fire wall, under the hood, infront of the steering wheel. It holds brake fluid. If it's leaking from the fittings, replaqce it!
Q: havinh troubles with my nissan murano 2004 SL Awd?
Sometimes when turning the wheel, there is a clicking on the front of the car. what can be wrong with it. and should i worry about it?
Car has a 52,000 miles on it
could be this "When turning the vehicle in
ON/LOCK mode on paved roads, you
may feel a braking effect. This is a
normal condition of the AWD model."?
but sometimes it feels very small effect with awd lock off..
A: click sound either the top turning bearings make klunk klunk as the wheel is turned can be felt outside by touching the front springs and turning the steering. or single more metalic click sound from a non properly torqued steering rack 90 ft lbs. on those bolts. Any nosie should be investigated because loose suspension parts may be a safety and control issue.
Q: 2004 nissan murano or 2008 mercury mariner hybrid??
looking to trade my murano for the new mercury mariner, how good will it be and will i regret it?? i spend hours looking for parking near my school and figured it would be nice instead of wasting gas it ran on electric.
A: You won't regret it!
I've had personal experience with this & believe me you will DOUBLE your miles per gallon. You may also want to check out the Ford Escape Hybrid. It is a little cheaper & just as nice.
Remember also that you can still get a LARGE federal tax incentive on these.
You should also check out hybridcars.com for tips on how to get the best gas mileage out of the Ford Hybrid Escape (same vehicle as Mercury Mariner Hybrid) Some peeps are consistantly getting 40-45 mpg !
http://www.hybridcars.com/gas-saving-tips/maximizing-mileage-ford-escape-hybrid.html
Not me though....I get 28 mpg, ('07 Hybrid Escape 4X4) but I drive like a COMPLETE idiot! Best mileage I ever got befor in an SUV was 13.9 .....(my fault, not the vehicle's) ! I never bothered to try the techniques listed in the above link. I'm always in much-too-much of a hurry...LOL
And GO DRIVE ONE !
They are REALLY fun to drive !
They are MUCH peppier than their "specs" would leave you to believe.
Oh yea, there's FMCC incentives for you too!

Q: will i still be able to get the 2004 nissan murano in 2012?
A: You will want a new Nissan not a first generation 2003 to 2007 Murano. There are no 2008 Murano's Besides a 2004 will be 8 years old by then. Second Generation 2009 Murano will be replaced with the third generation body style change around 2012. And please ignore that other Dumb answer
Q: my dad bought a new car? 2004 Nissan Murano?
and my mom doesnt like it because it has a black interior trim. so now both of my parents are pissy and on top of that they wont talk 2 me. so im getting pissy. plus 2morrow we're going to a picnic with like 10 families. so help please!!! ASAP
i also like the car. my dad asked me if this was the right car. cause this is going to b my high school car.
A: Your question should be that your father bought a "used car".
A 2004 model is "not" by any means a new car since we are nearing 2009. Don't intervene in parental affairs, they may not agree now but they will get over it, keep in mind that they have gotten though things that were a lot worst together and as one.
They may not agree now, but they will come to an understanding along the line and hopefully soon. As for your picnic, don't worry. Parents as adults know how to act around other adults for the most part and don't like to have "dirty laundry" out so all can see it.
If you do take sides you will lose in the end as when you parents do make up the one that you sided "against" will not forget that anytime soon. You may not like to see your parents as they are right now, but it will work out in the end and besides, a misunderstanding or two every now and then keeps a relationship healthy.
This may not be what you wanted to hear, but it is the best course of action. Treat your parents equal.
Q: why does my 2004 nissan murano vdc light appear on the dash when I turn the key slowly? Not all the time?
A: Actually a small issue has cropped up with Can Communications on Nissan's. Your Murano should be checked for Can code U-1000 or U-1001. There is a service bulletin. Controller Area Network of CAN one or more computers are not talking to each other on start up. But Take it to the best Nissan Dealer near you. Many dealers will say your not experencing any driveability problems we just cleared the code BYE. The actuall repair for CAN U-1000 is grounding problems that in some cases require removing the dash.
Q: 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe vs. 2004 Nissan Murano?
i just got bak from a nissan dealer and i want the nissan coupe. They told me all i had to pay was a $500 difference for the trade. Is it worth it or not?? people told me that the murano even my year wuz a bettr car but getting 11 mpg is killing me. Need to call back by 4 today. plz helpp
A: but the murano is more fun and its outrageous to give it for a lame altima . murano is a sport suv .
Q: how do I install Sirrius or XM into my 2004 Nissan Murano SE? Does it need to be done by the dealer?
I'd like to use the in-dash display.
I already have a SAT button so I assume it is already wired but not sure.
A: First of all...My vote is for XM over Sirrius. I have been with XM for 2.5 years and I love it. No you dont have to have it done at the Nissan Dealer. You can buy a car kit to install an XM roady2 or the like and install it yourself without any trouble if you are handy enough to change your own oil or install a light fixture in your house. If not, installation is usually VERY reasonable at any of the 'custom' stereo stores where you purchase the equipment. Installation should cost only 50-70 bucks plus the cost of the equipment.
Q: 2004 Nissan Murano?
We are in the market for an SUV and the one we like best is a 2004 Nissan Murano. The only thing is that it has been in an accident before but the owner said the only damage was the passanger door and it was replaced. It looks very nice and it has leather seats. They are asking $18,995 and it has 42,432 miles. Does this sound like a good buy. What do you think I could talk the owner down to. Also, do they have a good crash test rating, I have a 6 month old and I want to keep him safe. Thank you!!
A: Without knowing what model it is or what options it has it's hard to say if that's a good price or not. Go to Edmunds.com or NADA.com and look up its value. Seems a little overpriced to me. It is 4 years-old.
Q: Having troubles with My nissan murano 2004 SL AWD?
ok when i am pressing gas to turn left or right, my car makes a clunk noise from the front of the vehicle. what can the problem be?
A: Something is loose in the brake system, suspension, or driveline. Find what is loose or have someone find what is loose.
Q: 2004 nissan murano for $10500?
hi, i am really thinking of buying a 2004 nissan murano, its a clean tiitle , never damaged ,about 82k miles. Its really nice and its exactly the color i wanted. I juts dont know if its a good deal. The 10500 also includes tax, tite and everything. what do you all think?
A: Seems like a lot of miles for the price, I would say it'd be around 8500-9500. Try finding a bluebook price or get an unbiased quote on it.
Q: 2004 Nissan Murano isseu?
i just recently bought a nissan murano, still under warranty its a 2004, i noticed that when i take my foot off the gas and just coasting, it seems normal at first but when it decreases to 20kms/h it seems like the the engine brakes come on. and at that moment if i touch the gas it seems like it slams forward a little. not sure if something is seased up or if it's just normal.. any ideas?
A: what are exactly engine brakes? anywho, i doubt anything is wrong with your car, if there was something serious the car would notify you in the dash board.
Q: do I have to go thru the dealership to install Sirius in my 2004 Nissan Murano?
It already has the SAT button on the dash and a LCD.
Here is my question in video form:
http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=ec90f5ad5c0ad8145731b90c05b53f68.1128258
A: No, but if you don't and it fries your electrical system, then you have nothing to fall back on. Dealer will guarantee the work so that if anything goes wrong they are responsible for the fix. Use the dealer. You'll spend more now, but save alot more later.
Q: Has your 2004 Nissan Murano ever stalled while driving or in idle?
I was driving the other day and the car just turned off! All the indicator lights went on and the steering locked up. I had to stop in the middle of traffic, put it into park, restart the car, and I was on my way. Very distressing and scary especially since this is a 2004 car. The dealer mentioned I need to replace the air flow meter for apprx. $800 (diagnosis, parts, and labor). This happened 4 times in the past day and feed up with the car.
A: three times to me but mines an 05
1. i was going through a small side street and it stall while i was slowing to go over a speed bump
2. at school when i was coming out a parking space (yes very embarrassing lots of people around me)
3. yesterday when i was leaving school just made a turn to get out of the parking lot stalled in the middle of the road and didnt start right up, then after the 3 or 4th time it started
1st time nissan could find anything wrong and there service is very rude so fuck them the cars a lease anyway and the lease expires in may so i didnt go back for the 2nd or 3rd time
Q: Has anyone tried to replace a 2004 Nissan Murano factory stereo system?
I have a 2004 Murano, with the Bose system (without navigation), and I read where the factory system can't be replaced due to the climate controls being wired into the radio system. I'm not happy with the quality of sound, and want to replace everything. Is there a way around this? I've only looked online to find this, but haven't talked to anybody yet on it. I will be very dissapointed if this is the case.
A: Vehicles with stero systems like that in the Murano, are becoming more popular, sadly enough. It is true about the wiring and that the radio can not be replaced with an aftermarket unit, without major rewiring. It can ve done, but it will be pricy. The time it takes to rewire the climate controls, and to build a new face for the system (as there are no replacement faces for this because of the non-replacable factor. If you are unhappy with the quality of the sound, I would suggest what was metnioned above and having new speakers, tweeters, amp, and sub installed. If you can find a shop that would be willing to do a system upgrade, it would be a very pricy upgrade as this would be a long and tedious task of rewiring an entire system and everything that system is connected to. In the long run, it would be more cost effective to buy a new vehicle with a stero you like, upgrade what you can, or live with it. Nissan really didn't give people many options there.
