Q: should I sue the driver or not?
Im going to put this as simple as I can Xmas nite I went to the store to get some chips and my cousin with me wanted to get something to drink, were in the parking lot looking for a spot, car in front of us also looking for one, car in front of us stops and i stop about 10-12 feet behind him, 10 seconds later he puts it in reverse and backs up fast, my guess was to get the spot that was behind me, he hits my car and caused alot of damage, so my insurance adjuster said it will be totaled, salvaged, what ever you want to call it, my car is a 1989 bmw 325I with a rebuilt engine less than 50k miles on it and the other car was a 2005 nissan pathfinder. I have insurance on my car the passenger in the other car was the owner and did not have insurance, and the driver had a expired license Im only gonna get about 1200 for my car, which i know i cant get more, but honestly the car is strong, yea the paint was off and some cosmetics issues but engine wise, it hauls ass. Im thinking about sueing the guy any input on this would be nice need more info just ask ok so in the last 1 and a half ive been rear ended twice once by a drunk driver and got ran off the road by this lady who hit me and then drove away, i caught up to her and was telling her to pull over and she laughed and gave me the bird, i got her plates and shes in big trouble too and now this accidennt, as a result of all of these, I have 3 buldging disk and my hip is mis aligned and my neck is straight as a ruler ( its supposed to have a C curve) my eye sight went from perfect 20/20 to 14/12 and i have short term memory loss and yes i am nervous when I get on the road now, and this guy that just hit me on xmas made me get more nervous and now i dont feel like driving, i have been on over 25 different meds in a year for pain and my body. this accident just made everything worse, i get really nervous when im in a car and i get all anxious but i dont know why. So yes I have reason to sue this guy cause for one he shouldnt have been driving and he didnt have insurance i never said i was on 25 diff meds i said since the my first accident in april 2007 up to now i have been on different medicines for pain and muscle and depression and anxiety. not all at once but at different times. as far as my medical history before, I was in excellent health, I had my physical every year, got checked up often, took blood every every to check for anything and had my vision and hearing checked, I have a VERY good medical history before any accident, before the accident I was about 6 feet 1 inch and weighing in at 220 and I was 9 percent body fat, I was in shape. things have changed alot since then like i stated. also i forgot to add that my health has been kept on file since the first accident i was in and it does show that over time with each accident I got worse

A: Sue for what? If your insurance company is paying you the Actual Cash Value for your vehicle, that is all you are entitled to recover from the legally liable party. If you do not have rental on your policy, you can ask the at fault party to reimburse you the cost of a rental. You can sue, but a judge is not going to make the other party pay you more just because his vehicle was not insured. Edit - what state did this loss occur in? You may not even be tort eligible. You also need to prove that your current condition was not pre-existing. You are on 25 different medications?!? Call the other party's insurance company and let them know you are claiming injuries. You will need to prove your current injuries are not pre-existing. Sorry, but the adjuster is going to work you over requesting all kinds of medical information that pre-dates this loss. FYI - it is very unlikely your vision was effected by any of these accidents.

So I got into an accident on xmas evening, I was at a family party and my cousin asked me to drive him to the liquor store to buy some drinks for him and my uncles, when we got there ( the only liquor store open on xmas) there was no parking right in front of the store, we drove up some more around the parking lot and some guy in front of me stopped out of no where and I assumed he was going to park, I was about 10 feet behind him, and next thing you know he puts it in reverse and backs up into me pretty fast and well caused more damage than I thought it would. He was in a Nissan Pathfinder 2005 and I was in a 1989 bmw 325, he pushed my hood back and my front grill was all busted and I noticed the next day when i pryed open the hood that he also pushed my radiator back and its touching my cooling fan so thats not good, but back to the accident, I got out and I was pretty pissed but I went over to his window and told him to park on the side and he did and so did I, well the driver got out and at first didnt know what to say, and older guy maybe 45, and his passenger got out ( owner of the vehicle) and told me he was sorry about what happened, but next thing you know the driver started saying that he didnt do the damage that it was already there and that he didnt do all that and this and blah blah is all i heard because I was pretty pissed since I rebuilt my engine not too long ago and i have less than 30k miles on it and tranny also, so first thing i wanted to do was make it clear that he put it in reverse and hit me, everybody agreed to that, I did , my cousin, the driver and the other passenger, and i told the driver just give me your info and lets go home and let the insurance deal with it, he was didnt want to give it up, and as time went by i found out he didnt have an active license and the vehicle didnt have insurance on it... so I called the police so they can come help me get some info out of this guy and even the police was hesitating to come because it was on private property ( parking lot ) but they showed up and i told them my side of the story and the driver told them also his side and what not, so I got the guys info and the plate of his vehicle and we left, I called my insurance and told them everything, then my adjuster calls the driver and talks to him and then calls me back saying that the driver told him a completely different story about how i ran into him and what not........ yea I was pretty mad then too. I called the police dept and got the names of the officer who came to the scene and I gave it to my insurance and theyre going to be talking to the officers later today..... my question is what am I going to be facing when they find out the guy didnt have an active license and the vehicle didnt have insurance, i have full coverage on my car. If the other driver continues to say that I hit him can I take this to legal matters?

A: By all means HIRE A LAWYER!!! The fact that he was driving without a license and the car was uninsured is enough to make the other driver pay. Also make sure you and your passenger(s) see a doctor. Often people don't feel pain from a minor crash until several days later. If later on you happen to feel hurt, you will need to sue the other driver for damages.

Q: whats the best spark plug for 1989 nissan pathfinder (3ltr v6)?
Im trying to find out if there really is and advantage from one spark plug to another. E3 spark plugs sound pretty convincing and I probably go with those unless I hear otherwise. I'm told they havent worked as well with american sports cars but on the other hand its a forign company and they'll be going into a truck that was made in Japan. Fuel Injected 3.0 ltr v6

A: ngk or anything made in japan. avoid bosch, the filaments tends to cut off with nissan vehicles.

Q: a tech truck question, will the 4cyl engine fit in the 1989 nissan pathfinder even tho its the V6 one?
are the bolt patters that much different? i know that that year came in both, so are there multiple bolt patterns for it so you have the option to change? and same w/ the Transition, if its auto, can i put a 5 speed in it?

A: possible different cross member for engine definitly different for the transmission, would need different computer, and I have no idea if the internal wiring will work out. this swap is probably not a good idea

A: you need to disconect the possite battery cable first of all, loosen the belt tensioner, remove the belt, and disconect the alternator cables, alternator is only hold on by 3 to 4 screws, unscrew and it will come off right off......

Im thinking of buying a 89 nissan pathfinder but I want to know if it was a successful make and model. Is it a good car in general.

A: they are good vehicles,,that's why there still out there on the road,,i own a repair shop,,and i work on some once in awhile ad they hold up really well,,i have a friend who has one that has about 600.000 miles on it,,and it still runs and looks good,,i have done all the work on it since it was new,,and it still does well,,so yes there good,,over all probably one of the better ones out there right now,,good luck i hope this help,s.

Q: how do you turn off the bell sound on the driver side door on a 1989 nissan pathfinder?
whenever i drive and i make a turn the driver side doors' bell keeps going off. i looked where the bell is but i cant find it. should i removed the door and then reinstall it?

A: If you can't get it yourself then you need to take it to a mechanic. You don't need to do all those things to remove it.

Q: Testing&replacing the alternator on a 1989 Nissan Pathfinder?
helpless-carless-broke.. female posting another plea for vehicle advice! I have a 1989 Nissan Pathfinder. I can fully charge the battery and drive it about 30 feet- then it dies again- I put the battery charger back on and there is no juice left. I have tried using a different / new battery..same thing happens. I am pretty sure after talking to a few car pros that I either need to replace the alternator or the battery cables. The thing is- #1 I can't figure out how to tell exactly what model number it is(its a 4WD but I don't know how you tell 4 or 6 CYL etc...so I can get the replacement part. #2 I have seen pictures of the alternator but I am not sure where it is located in my vehicle.Everything looks the same to me. HAHA! I need to locate it so I can take it out-then to go get it tested to verify it is actually indeed the alternator. guess I shoulda married a car salesman!

A: A good battery will last for hours even if the alternator is bad. A good alternator will keep the car running even if the battery is gone. My guess is that your alternator quit and the battery has been run down often enough to ruin it now. You need to check things with a voltmeter. You can get one for $15. If the battery is that bad you'll need a new one in any case. Charge the new battery and start the engine. Then check the battery voltage with the voltmeter. If it's less than 13 volts, the alternator is bad.
