Q: how do you change a roof lamp?!?
how do you change the roof lamp bulb? how do you take the lid off the lamp etc????? yes vague female question. I have a nissan pathfinder 1990

A: The dome light is usually snapped in with a one way clip. You can take a small screw driver and look all around the plastic cover until you see it. Gently depress the clip and tilt the plastic cover off the the fixture. Most of the bulbs twist in or twist out. Some of the newer ones are plugged in. Goodluck!

Q: My car when i drive it over 45-65 miles hour ? Engine Stumbled?
1990 Nissan Pathfinder SE , everytime i drive on the highway and it hit 45mph to 60. The car seem to stumble? like it trying to go ? I wonder what system i should start to look at ? please help..

A: Nope, sorry guys, all wrong. Timing would be a problem at any speed. Filter would be an issue at any speed, sorry guys, I know that the other answers will get you no where. In my Frontier, which is cousin to your Pathfinder your EGR valve is opening up at the wrong time. It is dumping to much exhaust gas into the intake. Try replacing that, and any of the other sensors, tubes, and valves that control the operation of that EGR. While you are at it, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace any O2 sensors that are over 1 or 2 years old. Less than that if you drive it a lot. If your state will allow you to, that is, they don't do smog checks, or they are very infrequent, disconnect the vacuum hose going to the EGR, at least for a test and see if this makes a difference.

Q: My A/C Button stop responding after kids was playing with them?
1990 Nissan Pathfinder SE, MY A/C was working find until my sister kid was playing with the buttons now when i press on the button that put the air into my face or legs it doesn't respond. It seem to stuck on blowing air on my feet. The A/C button doesn't respond or cold button? Where should I start to look in order to fix the problem ? please help!!!

A: check the fuse for it,they may have blown a fuse for it,other than that the control unit could be messed up on it,its an older vehicle, and id say the control unit is getting worn some on it anyway, but it may just be a fuse blown on it,good luck on it.

Q: Car doesn't start up again after i shut if off after 1 hr of driving?
1990 nissan pathfinder. I was driving around like normal, went to a pizza store. Turn it off like 5 min later try to it turn it back on it didn't start. Recently bought battery from walmart. Today i took battery tester and it read 5v (poor battery) ? I'm guessing i was driving around on the battery reserve time ? i think the alternator went bad? No start/ no starter crank ?

A: DO NOT START THE CAR AND THEN REMOVE THE POS LEAD FROM THE BATTERY. THIS WILL FRY YOUR ALTERNATOR DIODES FOR SURE. BEST BET IS TO TAKE THE DAMN ALTERNATOR OUT AND TAKE IT TO A PARTS HOUSE AND HAVE IT TESTED. MOST PARTS HOUSES WILL DO THIS FOR FREE. SOUNDS AS IF THE ALTERNATOR IS JUNK. BE SURE TO CHANGE THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR IF IT IS A SEPARATE UNIT FROM THE ALTERNATOR, AS IT MAY BE THE REASON THE ALTERNATOR WENT BAD TO BEGIN WITH. MOST MANUFACTURERS WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR EQUIPMENT IF YOU DO NOT CHANT THE REGULATOR TOO.

Q: What kind of oil and tool I must use in 4X4 transmission?
Well actually I want to know the kind of oil most common used in the transfer ? mi car is a Nissan Pathfinder 1990 automatic transmission and 4X4 transfer. I want to know the rathcet size to opend the hole in the transfer and the kind of oils that the transfer uses in this model. Thanks for your help

A: I woud assume that it is also lubricated by the automatic transmission fluid! Thje plug size is probbly 3/8" or 1/2". You actually should be able to find this out if you call your dealer (or garage that has been servicing our vehicle)! If you are planing on doing your own maintainace, - go to "AutoZone" class car parts supply stores, and buy yourself a "Haynes Auto Repair manual"! Just get on for your year and model vehicle, - it will have all the service information you may need to keep it runing, - plus it has wiring diagrams in back of book,- so you can find electrical problems - should they arise! This won't take long to save enough money to pay for itself, -- it might keep you from breaking things, which saves money also!

Q: Fuel Pump Problem on My Nissan Pathfinder?.?
I have a 1990 Nissan Pathfinder. When my car is parked the fuel pump will turn on and then shut off by itself. Is this a problem? How would i fix it? I just changed my battery and I hope this problem doesn't kill my new battery.

A: Yes, that is a problem. The problem you describe points to a faulty oil pressure switch. The fuel pump relay is only energized by the engine control module and only for a few seconds to pressurize the fuel line when you cycle the ignition switch from off to on. After that the fuel pump relay is by-passed and once the oil pressure switch senses about 4 or 5 psi the oil pressure switch powers the fuel pump directly from the battery via the fuse block. When you shut the motor off the fuel pump will continue to run, being powered by the battery through the fuse block via the oil pressure switch, until the oil pressure switch senses an oil pressure bleed off, at which time the fuel pump will shut off. It usually only takes a few seconds for the oil pressure to bleed off once you shut off the motor but if the oil pressure switch is faulty and sticking it may hang at a pressure sensing above the minimum pressure required for it to energize the fuel pump, in which case the fuel pump will not shut off, or the shut off may be delayed for an extended period of time until the oil pressure switch contacts open once it senses that the last few lbs of oil pressure has bled off, which may take a long time if the oil pressure switch is stuck. But what can also happen, such I suspect yours is doing, is that the oil pressure switch can get stuck very near the minimum pressure required for the oil pressure switch to energize the fuel pump and that will cause the oil pressure switch contacts to chatter (open and close intermittently) at the borderline pressure. I suggest you locate the oil pressure switch, which on your 1990 Pathfinder I think is on the rear passenger side of the engine just above the oil filter, and then the next time the fuel pump energizes by itself tap lightly on the side of the oil pressure switch with a screwdriver handle to see if that will jar the contacts open and stop the fuel pump, and if that doesn't work then unplug the oil pressure switch to see if that will stop the fuel pump. If either tapping on the oil pressure switch or unplugging it stops the fuel pump from running then you should replace the oil pressure switch. And yes! The fuel pump will drain your battery power if it runs a long time. If for example your battery capacity is 60 amp hours and assuming the fuel pump draws 8 amps, divide 60 by 8 and you have at best 7.5 hours until the battery power is drained.

Q: 1990 Nissan pathfinder warning lights?
I have a 1990 Nissan Pathfinder without a user manual, trying to decipher a warning light that came on as well as determine where to add transmission fluid

A: Google "1990 Nissan Pathfiner" and "user manual" and you might be able to download a PDF of that. You could also go to Autozone or Pep Boys or whatever is in your town and buy a Chilton's Guide for your make/model/year.

Q: Can I replace a power window regulator with a manual window regulator for my 1990 Nissan Pathfinder?
My driver's door power window broke at the part where the metal bracket that holds the window and the wire that moves the window up and down. Is it possible to change the powered regulator to a manual regulator? To replace it with a manual regulator is alot cheaper than with a powered regulator.

A: Generally no, you can't. None of the brackets will be present that the manual regulator would need to bolt to. It will be FAR cheaper to have the bracket rewelded, or even replace the door with one from a wrecking yard and move YOUR parts into the new door.

Q: Need instructions on how to change a ball joint on a 1990 Nissan Pathfinder?

A: you didn't say upper or lower so make your selection from auto zone manual http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/05/03/69/0900823d80050369.jsp
