Q: Which vehicle?
I have a really nice 2001 Nissan Pathfinder. It's dependable. I'm the only owner it's ever had. But, I watch the value on it go down and down with every year and with every thousand miles. I want to have a good trade-in in a few years when I graduate dental hygiene school. I've always loved corvettes. Corvettes value seems to stay pretty high. I'd have to get an older one. 1991 would probably be the newest i could afford...if I got lucky on it. I'm looking more at mid-late 80's ones. How dependable is an older corvette? How much comfort would I be scrificing? Should I do it? or should I keep the Pathfinder? Space isn't a real issue...My hasband has a brono and a big ford truck we can tote our friends around in.

A: well look at it this way? do have a lot of friends? well more room and space your friends might take you in as a good car picker?

Q: fresh battery, fresh battery connects, no start?
I have a Nissan Pathfinder 1991 3.0 4WD. Recently, the electrics have been going kookookaka. I am curious what it could be. The battery is new as are the battery connections. All electrics in the cars work fine but when i go to turn the ignition there is nothing. spark plugs? altenator? starter? how often do the above listed items need replacement?

A: Do you hear a clicking noise when you turn the key?If not,it is probably not the battery and likely not the alternator. It sounds like the starter. You will probably need a new one.

Q: Blown brake line. Cost to fix?
My girlfriend's 1991 Nissan Pathfinder has been having slight difficulty holding brake fluid for awhile but the mechanics could never find a leak. We've just topped it off every couple weeks and it's fine. But now we fill it up and it's drained within a few hours just sitting. The brakes are completely useless now. Mechanic said he suspects we've shot one of the brake lines. How much are we looking at to get it fixed?? I'm here in NH right now where it's freezing outside and I have no garage so I'm not up to doing it myself.

A: One brake line? Well let's see parts... $20 or so. Labor, 1 hour or so to include bleeding the system after the line is replaced... $100? MAKE the mechanic show you what's damaged before money is even talked about. It sound sortof strange that a line would leak like that because if that was the case, it would suck air in as the brakes were released, causing a very spongy pedel feel and the need to pump the brakes, which you have not mentioned. You are going into the beast's cavern. Take weapons.

Q: Can the AC people tell before the add 1st bottle freon, if it's going to take more to fill my car?
I've only budgeted the $39.95. They said it will go up if more is needed, on my 1991 Nissan Pathfinder. I'd rather not do anything, than to find out the one's not enough and then not be able to afford more.

A: yes, they can put a type of presure gauge on it and tell how much presure is in the canister, and then add the right ammount in to your car, a cheep way to do it, is do it your self and go to major auto parts store and get the kit and do it

Q: how to change a nissan pathfinders complete dash ?
I have a 1991 pathfinder and also a 1995 pathfinder and I am looking to see if anyone knows if it is possible to change the dashboards out for eachother im trying to make my 1991 look better because im going to scap the 1995 because it has a cracked frame, I bought it for body parts for my 1991 and now looking at changing interiors. ANY help would be appreciated, thanks

A: 1990 - 1995 kept the same body, it should work ... depending on if the two dash boards include all the electrical for the same toys.

Q: A 1991 Nissan Pathfinder XE/SE..?
Ok so I bought a Pathfinder off my uncle whos a mechanic and I havent seen it yet Does this type have power locks and windows?

A: I have a 1991 pathfinder SE and it doesn't have neither power windows or locks

Q: 1991 Nissan Pathfinder won't crank?
For the past two weeks, it's been progressively slower to crank but would eventually turn over. Finally one day it just wouldn't crank at all. When I turn the key all the engine lights come on and I can hear the starter clicking. Opened, the hood. Some corrosion on the battery (it was only 3 years old). I put in a new battery anyway and cleaned the terminal cables. Still won't turn. Have power (always did) to lights, etc. I had the starter replaced a couple of years ago. Maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Any ideas of what this could be? When my starter died a few years ago, I had different symptons (would start sometimes, not others), but this seems different. The progressively slower and slower crank makes me worry that it's something mechanical? Any help? Please?

A: sure its the starter.as the starter weakened it turned slower. If it was the motor locking up it would have been all at once.pathfinders are hard on startes and more than likely you had a rebuilt starter put on.if you bought one any where but the nissan dealer it was rebuilt.four years for a new rebuilt starter is good so be happy you got it to last this long.

Q: Can a 1991 Nissan Pathfinders air conditioner still be charged?
I've been told I have to get an all new system? I only paid $200.00 for the car and do not have any money for something that expensive? Please say it isn't so.

A: It all depends on the state of the compressor(whether or not it is still functioning properly), the state of the hoses carrying the gas and the blower-fan. A simple checkup won't cost you the world but do it at an expert's place.

Q: 1991 Nissan Pathfinder "Valve-Tapping"?
I have a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder V6, with 88,000 miles on her. I recently did a radiator flush and a oil change on her, and now I am getting Valve Tapping. I was wondering, is this harmful to the vehicle, also, I want to take this car 400k miles and beyond, will this be a costly repair, or just simple adjustments? I want to take VERY good care of this car, and I am worried this will diminish it very quickly.

A: Sounds like you have a lubrication problem. If you do not get it checked out, the valves will wear out and you will loose compression and power.

Q: Is a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder 3.0 engine going to be ruined by a timing belt break?
Does it have a non-interference engine? /

A: this engine has been indentified as an interference engine, in which valve to piston damage will occur if the timing belt breaks. replace it at the 90,000 mile intervals as recommended

Q: hello i have a 1991 nissan pathfinder 4x4 with a transmission problem it takes a few second to engage in gear?
then every thing also works fine also i have notice that when i started the car everything is fine then i heard some noise from the transmission like a pump or acelator noise then the car will engage in gear and there is no problems after that what could be the problem

A: replace the filter and good luck

Q: I have a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder that is jerking when I accelerate, if I remove my foot or hit clutch it stops?
I hear something that sounds like maybe a frayed belt also. I have been driving a stick for 25 yrs, my driving is not the problem. 2 people have answered my question. If all you have is insults and vulgar language keep it to yourself. Since neither of the answerers knows about cars.... it is likely the timing...

A: jerking when you acc? i think you need to replace your fuel filter

Q: Is a 1996 motor compatible with an 1991 Nissan pathfinder?

A: Yes with parts swaping the VG33 can replace the VG30 motor. Things like injector plugs and IAC AAC valve plugs may be different. The basic engine is the same so it will bolt up. You will use a lot of the older motor parts. Things like ehauust are different too. You may have to enlarge the exhaust manifold bolt holes.

Q: What is the average labor cost to replace a throw out bearing on a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder?
I am looking for an estimated amount or time for a good mechanic to do this, so I can judge the estimates I get.

A: depends on where you go. the dealer would charge well over 300 american dollars. call around your area.
