A: it costs around 600.00 for the basic package ..
i dont think its worth spending that much on a 97 pathfinder.. just get an alarm for it , put a club on your steering wheel and your set
Q: I'm thinking about buying a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder.It has 115,000 miles on it.What should I do?
It's not 4 wheel drive. It looks like new on the inside and it only has a few scratches on the outside. What do you know about this kind of vehicle,do you recommend them?
A: As with any used car, I would have it checked out by an independent mechanic. It's worth $50 or so to have someone look at it to identify any potential issues. If the seller won't let you take it to a mechanic, that's a bad sign.
I used to have a 1990 Pathfinder. I loved that truck, and when I traded it it had over 190,000. They are reliable, and if the routine maintenance has been done, the engine and transmission should be good until 200k. However, this truck has a history of developing exhaust manifold leaks, which can be about a $500 repair.
Like any truck-based SUV, gas mileage will likely be poor. Yet in my opinion, the Pathfinder has always been one of the best-handling SUVs. If you get a good price and are willing to deal with the risks of buying a car with higher mileage, go for it.
Q: 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee VS 1995 Nissan Pathfinder?
Me and a buddy have to settle a debate. Which car is ultimately better; My 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee or his 1995 Nissan Pathfinder
1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee; 5.2l V8 Engine 4x4
or
1995 Nissan Pathfinder; 3l V6 Engine 4x4
A: Stock or nearly stock I'd go with the Jeep. Only place the pathfinder has you beat is in fuel mileage(usually not that great there either) and it;s possibly slightly quieter going down the road. Plus there are more mods in the aftermarket for your rig, Be warned if you lift it a bunch and put 35" or larger tires on it you WILL eventually overstress and break your axles and possibly your transmission and transfer case.
Q: 1997 Nissan Pathfinder fog lamps?
Can the lenses of the lamps be replaced. One of the bulbs was burned out and the lens was cracked. i removed the lamp housing and drilled out and retapped the screws in doing so i cracked the lens even worse. The housings are in good shape could I replace the lenses?
A: If you can find one from a good wreckers, maybe, but usualy, if you are talking about the little rectangle ones in the rear bumper, you have to buy the whole light unit.
Q: I have a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder and the transmissions keeps shifting out of overdrive. If i turn OD off its OK
Any ideas other than just turning off the overdrive. It just does this between 60 and 65 mph.
A: It sounds like you might have the start of gear hunting. This is a phenomenon on older automatic transmissions where the transmission seems to get confused as to what gear it wants to be in so it starts shifting up and down without the driver doing anything. Some people say that getting the trans fluid flushed and refilled can help this a little. BUt the next step up from there is getting a the trouble codes read to see if anything comes up on the transmission. Then the next step is a transmission rebuild.
Q: What could be wrong with my 1997 Nissan Pathfinder?
I have a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder that won't start. It was running fine back in April, but then my husband deployed and it hasn't been used since. Well, I want to start using it now, but I can't get it to start. It will turn over, but just won't start. The battery is good (I bought it in February, and took it back to where I bought it and had them charge/test it). I also replaced the spark plugs. Going to replace the spark plug wires next, so do you think that is the problem, or is there something else wrong? I tried using starting fluid (sprayed it in the air intake) but that didn't work either. Any ideas?
Please include how to test each item (ie-distributor-rpms will not move on dashboard, etc). Thanks!
A: A couple of months ago I had the same problem with my 99 pathfinder. It turned out to be the distributor. It cost me over $350 to fix it.
Q: Will a Yakima king cobra bike rack fit properly on a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder?
A: sure but you have to buy the horizontal crossbar mounts, and the "towers" that hook to your rain gutters.
go to a Yakima dealer for support.
Q: Where can I find cheap sun visors for a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder?
A: Your local neighborhood auto junk/salvage yard. Or the ever popular EBay.
Q: Check engine light on in car 1997 Nissan Pathfinder?
I took my car to my mechanic, and he changed the gas cap. Light came on 2 additional times and he attempted to reset it, but it was still on. Finally broken down and took it to the Nissan Dealer. They informed me that it was the emissions canister and that carbon was seeping in. They replaced the canister, caps, and valves for the canaister. The next day, the light came back on, went through this process 3 times now with the Nissan Dealer, and two times with my personal mechanic, (total 5 x's). I am feeling pretty pissed off now, picked up the car this morning from the Nissan Dealer, and guess what.....the light came on again before, I got home. The problem is, I need to get a smog check on my car, to complete the current registration, and I have paid the Nissan Dealer $500.00, any suggestions on what to do?
A: Save all your reciepts because its either 500 or 700 but if they cant fix it and you have proof you are trying you can get a emmisons waver with proof, not sure whats the law in your state im a inspector in Va. I work at Nissan i can tell you i think its the evap cannistrer and vent valve they go bad alot on pathfinders. but since you said they fixed it makes me wonder if they reset the light correct, i would be pissed off too, wish i could help more.
Q: How do you remove front/back door panels for a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder?
I need to replace the speakers, but first i need to remove the door panels.
Im having the most difficulty opening the gray panel that connect to to the bottom part of the window.
A: start by removing the screws in the armrest and\or door handle then with a slot head driver, and a set of needle nose pliers insert driver between panel and door gently pull back panel find the clip and with the pliers pull the clips. then from the back of the panel lift at an angle and it should come out
Q: How to remove 1997 Nissan Pathfinder instrument panel?
I have removed the 3 multi point wire plug connections from the back of the cluster. However, there is one remaining which looks like a bundled wire connected to the speedometer needle. It is not a mechanical cable. The 3 connectors which I disconnected easily, branch out at this point as well. What is this connection for and how do I disconnect it without breaking anything?
A: Crowbar and dynamite.
Q: How to replace the waterpump for a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder?
Hello there, my nissan truck is leaking coolant, is it hard to replace the waterpump? Thanks
A: Not if you are mechanicly inclined and have the right tools and can follow procedures.
see the guide below. It is for a 1998-2005, but yours should be similar. If you are going to do your own maintenance, You may want to get the repair manual for your model.
Good Luck!
Q: 1997 Nissan Pathfinder dashboard brake light wont go off?
1997 nissan pathfinder emergency brake light my dash board emergency light won't go out i have released the brake but the light remains on and has been on for days. I checked the brake fluid and the reserve is full. How can I make sure the emergency brake lever is compressing the pin to make the light go off? Any suggestions why this is happening?
A: Most of them the switch on the hand brake lever grounds the bulb circuit. Unplug the switch and see if the light goes off.
