Q: i just crashed my parents 2000 nissan pathfinder 4 days after i get my license. what happens w/ insurance?
i ran a blinking red light and got hit by an oncoming car. i woke up in the hospital a few hours later. n got a 100$ ticket. just a concussion n a laceration :] but the car is compeltey ruined. i got 2 pts on my license. so like. how does our insurance costs get affected n how much is expected to be reimbursed for our car?
A: Your insurance will be very high now. As for coverage on the SUV is depends on what coverage you have on it. I assume the car was total out. If you have full coverage on the vehicle they will give the blue book value (current value) of the car. If the car was only cover under liability then you won’t get anything back from the insurance company. After a collision such as this, most people who are responsible will become better and cautious drivers. It’s a tough lesson if you’re a fault. Since you posted on the forum I can see that you’re taking responsibilities for what had happen. It’s a good start.
Q: What is involved with replacing front shocks on a Nissan Pathfinder LE 2000?
I've never tried replacing something like a shock before, is this something that is extremely involved? Can it be done at home in the garage?
A: Does it have shocks or struts? Struts are usually inside a Coil spring, shocks are usually not...
If shocks, you can pretty easily do it yourself..Not sure what all is involved, but shocks are usually not too hard.
Struts are a different story. You need special spring compressors to remove the coil spring before you can install the new strut...If you don't know what you're doing, you can hurt yourself.
Q: Getting out of 4 wheel drive in a Nissan Pathfinder 2000?
My GIRLFRIEND has a Pathfinder. I've never driven a vehicle with 4 wheel drive before. Neither of us can figure out how to get it out of 4H. The light indicating 4 wheel drive is now permanently on, and I don't have the manual with me. Our relationship, not to mention the transmission, is on the line.
A: motor running, car in neutral , stopped on even surface--now shift it

Q: 2000 Nissan Pathfinder LE Taillights and Guages?
Thank you in advance for any help or clarification
I have a 2000 Pathfinder LE approx 64K miles. About a 2 months ago, I replaced the 10 amp fuse for the tail lights and interior guages, as it blew...no problems until now. Everytime I replace it, it blows immediately or works for a very short amount of time. I have done some basic diagnostics, no trailer harness, checked the relays, bulbs for headlamp, all good....any ideas what may be going on? Is this
A: ya you've got a short somewhere. thats what us pro's get paid for bring it to a dealership.
Q: Whats the average MPG on a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder?
JUST WONDERING WHAT TYPE OF MILEAGE PER GALLON YOU GUYS ARE GETTING. I HAVE APPROX. 85K MILES ON MY TRUCK AND I GET LEES THAN 150 MILES ON 10 GALLONS OF FUEL. IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN I THINK THAT'S WORST THAN A HUMMER. I 20" RIMS I WONDER IF THATS A FACTOR, OR WHAT CAN I DO TO IMPROVE MY MPG ?
A: You can Just check the Spark plugs or get ur truck a tune up. sometimes due to lot of miles spark plugs don't work efficiently. so try changing them. My friend had same kind of truck but he gets like 19 -20 miles per gallon.
Q: After how many miles should the timing belt or chain in a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder be changed?
A: The recommendation for the timing belt should be in the owners manual.
Q: What's the (approximate) lifespan of a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder engine?
I know the lifespan heavily depends on the driving habits of the owner but if any one has general guidelines that would help.
peace.
A: Remember that is a timing belt motor VG-33 engine is not a valve bender if the timing belt fails. Many of my customers wear out the suspension first. But with carefull maintence the motors will last over 250 thousand miles some of my customers are on timing belt #3 so that is 300,000 miles.
Q: How to remove door panel 2000 Nissan Pathfinder?
I need to replace the speakers in both the front and back doors of my 2000 Nissan pathfinder. I have removed the 2 screws that I could see in the front door and tried pulling the panel off with no luck. Before I put too much strength into pulling the panel off, can anyone tell me if there are more steps to complete before the panel can be removed?
A: Remove inside handle plastic.
Remove door armrest. (Front door only).
Remove power window switches, then disconnect the connectors. (pry out with, small screwdriver)
Remove door finisher cover. (Rear door only).
Remove bolts securing door finisher.
Remove clips securing door finisher.
Lift out door finisher.
Q: Does anyone know the towing capacity of a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder?
My friend is looking for a receiver for his 2000 manual Pathfinder so he can tow our co-owned boat instead of making me use my truck all the time. I've search on line but haven't found the capacity of the Pathfinder, just the Frontier which I figured would be close to the same seeing it has the same engine. If anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
A: Is 3500 to 5000 lbs max, on certain types. Good luck.
Q: Confused why I do not have illumination in the dash of my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder? Please Help!?
I had a new stereo installed in my truck and the same night when i turned my lights on, there was no illumination in my dash. I tried to install the stereo myself and I cut some wires that probably should not have been but the guys at the stereo shop said everything is hooked up correctly. Could it be a blown fuse other than whats in the fuse box? Thanks for all your help!
A: Yes pop the stereo back out gently and unplug it , then go in and trace those wires see if any wire isn't connected up.Don't let someone knock you for trying to install the stereo yourself bec other wise how does one learn if they don't try.
Keep in mind that the dash light control also is what illuminates the stereo too on most cars.Plus don't just look at fuses actually try to use the same amp fuse in it's place that you know is working.
When you check the wires look for a black wire that you may of cut , plus to fix the wire it's easy to just buy some wire connectors from walmart etc.Don't just wrap the wires together and tape them bec vibrations will cause them to end up having problems.
Hope that helps and best of luck. It might be a good idea to buy a service manual for that vehicle bec you may need a wiring diagram, etc to fix that problem.Just don't give up , go slow , have patience and check the fuses again , if not fixed double check that the switch is in the right position ,if you must take the stereo out go slowly and don't panic you'll find the problem.Worst comes to worst tell the stereo installers that they said all is connected properly but you've this dash problem now and they should fix it for free.I'd actually call them or better yet go back to them and complain bec they should of made sure the dash was illuminating up properly too.
Q: How do we deactivate the ant-theft system on a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder?
A Sister at our church bought this 2000 Pathfinder r two years ago and it has been a great car, with no problems. She has no user manual or remote key fob. Yesterday the horn started blowing and lights started flashing after church when she opened the door; I disconnected the horns , but headlights and flashers come on for 2-3 minutes every 3 minutes. Wwe could not determine how the system got activated or how to shut it off. This has never happened during the last 2 years . She does not remember doing any thing different that would have activated the system. Also the ant- theft horn and antitheft light relays were missing in the fuse and relay compartment, so this might have been a previous problem.. Disconnecting the battery turns every thing off, but when the terminal is reconnected the lights and horn just start up again. Can someone with a Nissan Pathfinder manual look up how to shut this antitheft system off?.
God Bless you and Best regards,
A: You can download a free owner's manual from Nissan's website.
Here is the link to Nissan tech info free manual download for 2000 Nissan pathfinder.

For what it's worth, I own a similar vehicle (a 2000 nissan xterra also with Nissan factory alarm). I believe using the factory key in the driver's door or the ignition is supposed to turn off the alarm, but the behavior you described sounds like the system is not working properly so the owner's manual probably won't be of much help. (it just tells you how the system should work, not what to do when in breaks) - if you're good with cars I'd start investigating the individual door & hood contacts - if a door doens't close tightly (due to a damaged hinge, or latch) then maybe the door makes contact when first closed but then opens just enough to trip the door contact and set off the alarm.
Good luck.
