A: seems to be pretty obvious the problem is a dead/weak battery. I mean if you need a jump to start the car how much more do you need to realize it's the battery. The fact that it runs fine once jumped is because the engine will charge the battery while its running and so your lights and radio etc will still work, but when you have to turn it on it depends purely on battery power. Call CAA and get a new battery, problem solved.
Q: Has the timing belt recommendation changed from 60K to 90K on 1993 Nissan Quest?
The maintenance guide says that it should be changed at 60K but I met a mechanic who indicated that Nissan revised their recommendation to 90K. It is unusual for a mechanic not to take work and I would like to believe him. However, I would like to verify it.
The mechanic I spoke with told me that the Part# is same for 1993 timeing belt and later Quest models. The scheduled change for 1993 is at 60K while 105K for the later ones. This does not make sense.
A: 30,000 miles past the reccomended service interval. Your van's valves hit the pistons if the cam belt jumps timing. HOWEVER CALIFORNIA says cars with timing belts have to make it to 100,000 miles. Risky "most" timing belts will run to that milage.

A: Check the balljoints and also the outer steering rods. See if those are defect. Usually they turn the wheels and most probably they are worn out.

A: The scraping noise is the wear bars on your brakes letting you know that your breaks will soon need to be replaced.You should take it to a real mechanic,then send a letter to the dealer stating the problem and ask that he take care of it.If he sends you a reply you don't agree with,then take it to court.

A: If you maintain the car decently you should be able to get another couple of years out of it.
As far as the "knock", it is PROBABLY related to the poor acceleration. If the KNOCK SENSOR has failed, the car cannot compensate for the knocking, or there may NOT be a failure, and still cannot compensate for it.
You should really take it to a repair facility and ask for an appraisal, as well as ask for their diagnosis for both items. If there is a mechanical cause for the knock, you MAY be driving on borrowed time.
And while they are at it, they can give you a heads up concerning anything else they see that may leave you high and dry.

My car Nissan Quest Van 1993. I can not start 1 or 2 days. I have change New Battery and Alternetor, so after 2 days my car same too, also, i came dealer Nissan 1 time, they said mayby my car SHOOK from Alarm and they take it out (i paid $99 dollars). But next day when i drop my car back home, i still can not start my car again ?????? I don't know what happen.

Q: how to change a thermostat on a 1993 Nissan Quest Van?
A: Follow the hose from the top of the radiator to the engine block. It will go into a housing attached to the block...should be heald on with 3 bolts. Remove all 3 bolts, lift up housing, pull out old thermostat, replace thermostat and gasket.
When finished, flush the cooling system to remove junk so you wont be replacing another one.

A: Check your belts. Replace and tighten them first. (check the power steering pump too)

A: The fuel filter is under the van by the fuel tank. There might be a cover you have to take off to get to it. You will need a phillips screwdriver and maybe a pair of plyers. The hoses will not come off easy but you just have to keep working at it. You should pull the fuel pump fuse then start the engine and let if run till it dies so you don't have any fuel pressure when you remove the hoses from the filter.

A: the pump ran dry, sucking in nothing but air and that killed it. and all fuel pumps have a screen on them to block any "sediment" in your tank from getting sucked up by the pump....which shouldn't even be an issue.
