Q: What Vehicles Use 205/75-15 Tires?
Many Junkyard have good deals on "Used Tire" Today I came by a wreck front-end 1997 Dodge Caravan but it have perfectly new tires on all four, full deep tread and manufacturer in 2008. The guy would sell them to me for $25 each. One problem, it was a 205/75.....14. So close. I want to know what other vehicles use this size so I can look for some good tire at the salvage yard. I don't want to read tire by tire.
Few vehicles I know:
Earlier Nissan Quest/ Mercury Villager
Some GM S-10, Blazer, Sonoma...
Older Kia Sportage
Also, do you know or think there's any weird myth or curse with buying tires from wreck cars?
A: Do Know..
Q: Which is the best car deal?
I'm getting a used minivan and here's what I've found so far....
1. 1997 Chrysler Town & Country SX - $5,995 (42,892 miles)- gold
2. 2000 Nissan Quest - $8,795 (40,296 miles)- silver
3. 2003 Mazda MPV LX - $8,995 (44,229 miles)- blue
4. 1999 Toyota Sienna - $7,995 (30,460 miles)- blue green
Which deal is best and is the most reliable?
A: I would say either 2 or 4. They both have decent mileage for their year and are reasonably priced. Keep in mind, a 1997 car is 10 years old so you could start to run into some problems with it. The 2003 Mazda has too many miles on it compared to the others...especially since it is the newest. Best you can do is get them inspected to make sure you're not buying a lemon and test drive them all. Good luck!
Q: How much longer you think this will last???
i currently own a 1997 Nissan Quest (minivan) which has 130,000 miles on it.... i was wondering how much longer you think this thing will run? b/c i need it to die so i can go get a nissan 350z ; )
..honest opinions please.
A: Wait until the 370z comes out, the price on 350zs will drop. You might just want to sell the Quest. I don't think it's going to die any time soon, unless you do something to it. At which point you might as well sell it and put the money towards the Z
Q: The check engine light came on when the speedometer and odometer stopped working on my nissan quest.?
Funny enough the van runs great, I had brought it from my 76 year old Dad in great condition, it only had 92thousand plus miles on it and it's a 1997. I've had it for 2 weeks when the check engine light came on and the speedometer and odometer stopped working. What could be the problem?
A: Sounds like a vehicle speed sensor, it is usually in the transmission. If you also have an ABS light then suspect wheel speed sensor. The only way to know for sure is have the system scanned and trouble codes pulled. One option is to go to Auto Zone and have the codes pulled then head for a large public library and use the Mitchell's manuals IN the reference section to research the code
Q: nissan shake in gear?
when our 1997 nissan quest is put in to gear the whole van starts to shake more of a vibration felt throught the ewhole car what could it be and would it be expensive to fix?
A: Have all the motor and trans mounts replaced if you want to keep the Van. Expect the entire job to be near $400/500 dollars mounts are not cheep. Also remember if you dont act fast the parts will become obselete.
Q: Nissan Quest smells like gas inside when i turn on the heater?
I have a Nissan Quest from the year 1997 i believe and i am wondering why it smells like gasoline when i turn on the heater. Its cold here in NJ so i turn on the car and heater and go back inside my house and wait until my car heats up. When i go in my car it smells like gas (a lot) does anyone know why this is happening?
A: I had a similar problem, I did not want to take chances with the car burning up. I had it towed to the dealer, they found a faulty gasket in the fuel injection rail, some gas was getting on the outside if the manifold and when you turned the heater on the vapors would be sucked inside the cabin.
Q: My 1997 Nissan Quest Van's tail lights stay on even the engine is turn off and all the light switches are off
A: the brake light switch is stuck, usually located near the top of the brake pedal
Q: I am locking for Nissan quest from 1997 to 2001 does anyone have or know who is selling? In Chicago. ?
E-mail me and let me know THANKS
A: Search Craigslist. I found no less than 10 Quest minivans 97-01, priced anywhere from $1800 to $7000 on the first page of search results (see first link below). You can also search AutoTrader (see second link below) or eBay Motors (see third link below).
Q: My 1997 Nissan Quest Van's tail lights say on even the engine is turn off and all the light switches are off
A: DO all the other lights stay on too or just your brake lights. IF it is just your brake lights then you need to squeeze your self under the dash a little so you can see all of the brake pedal and mounting. You are going to be looking for the brake light switch. This switch is what turns your brake lights on when you press on the brakes. Either your carpet is bunched up so your brake pedal does not come out completely or the switch isn't releasing completely or just that the switch is bad all together.

Q: 1997 Nissan Quest question concerning oil pressure?
Here is the deal.
I have a 1997 Nissan Quest. Oil light comes on, this is after oil has been changed, oil filter changed, proper level of oil is read on the dipstick. Light is still coming on.
Is this the oil pump only or could there be another scenario?
Any other ideas less expensive than replacing the pump would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Mike
A: Craw under the van and look for smashed in oil pan. Just 1/2 inch and the oil pick up will not work properly. and get the actual pressure tested with a pressure gauge. Oil to thin may cause the light to come on when the motor is hot and idling slow. Use 15/50 not 5wt / 30wt even 10wt/30wt might be to thin on a 11 year old motor.
Q: Where can I find mud flaps for my 1997 Nissan Quest?

Q: 1997 Nissan Quest starting problem?
I own 1997 Nissan Quest.GXE. The car some time don't even crank when I try to statr it. Than when I pump the gas white turning key in the ignition the van starts up. The car has check enging light on. I had the van in a mechanic's shop 2 weeks ago for a different problem and he diagnosed the light was on due to faulty O2 sensor. I like to know if the starting problem which just started is due to O2 sensor of some other problem. Also I need help locating the O2 sensor and want to replace it myself. Anebody can help. I am cash strapped and any little bit cash I can save will help. Thanks.
A: bad O2 sensors do not cause bad starting.
1996 and newer cars MUST be diagnosed properly at the dealer to fix them corrctly, otherwise your "Joe Mechanic" is just going to waste your money!
you have some other issues.
Q: 1997 Nissan Quest transmission. I am wondering if anyone knows about how much it will cost to replace?
It also needs a bunch of other minor work done to it. It has 152k. Is it even worth it? My other option is to finance a used, but newer vehicle. I really don't want a car payment though. Of course I don't want to max out my credit card in repairs either. Any thoughts?
So, the van is in the shop right now. When talking to the mechanic on Monday, I got the impression he thinks it would be a bad move to fix it. I trust the guy, he's very knowledgable and trustworthy. Basically, the transmission could be up to $3000 to replace, he's going to get in touch with the guy who rebuilds them too. But, I need brakes, cv joint issues, and a hesitation that could mean it needs a tune up or an oxygen sensor. There are other smaller issues also and when it's all said and done I could be looking at $5000-6000. And that's without a gaurantee that something else won't go wrong. Like the engine. I am starting to lean toward financing a used vehicle that costs about $10,000 with a warranty. I'm doing plenty of research. Putting a huge amount on my credit card for a vehicle that may go caput before I even pay that expense down is just not making any sense anymore. But I thank everyone's input. I do wish I'd fixed it sooner though, I love this van!
A: Hello there. The Trans in that vehicle will cost about1000. to 1200 to remove, rebuild and re install. If the vehicle is in good condition, i.e tires interior and body, then you should keep and fix. It will cost you probably a little more than the above figures to get in to a newer used car. You will have a payment also. If you invest in the vehicle you have, and fix the other issues, Then you bought a used car that cost you "about 1500$ to fix and had to make 3 payments, and you are done.
Buying a new used is dangerous. So if you observe the above statements, you may come out better in the long run. Hope this helps. Will.
Q: I have a 1997 Nissan Quest XE, I found a lose vacuum hose?
I have a 1997 Nissan Quest XE, I found a lose vacuum hose. I found it above the starter after it wouldn't start. The hose is a few inches short from reaching the battery, but underneath the air intake hose. It is a rubber hose with a brass tip the goes back like a "U". Any ideas where it goes?
A: Doesnt sound like a vacume hose to me.....more like a vent hose to allow something to breath or moisture to drain....pics would help in identifying it.
