Q: All Nisan Experts Take notice!!!!?
I own a 1998 Nissan Quest van,and I cant get any heat at all! The van is in good working order but only cold air comes from the heater system. When the van is going more than 2000 rpm I get luke warm air but under that rpm only cold! I gave replaced the thermastat 3 times trying to fix the problem and this week I even coverd 100% of the radiator atempting to make the engin run hotter with no results it wont even over heat with the whole radiator blocked. There are no leaks at all anywhere the blower works good the AC works great but no heat! I live in A place where -50 is comen so I dont want to get frostbite so someone please help!!!! The van has both front and rear heat but neather works at all. The dealer told me that there is no heater controll valve in this model so I dont know what to do.

A: Have you tried to back flush the heater core, it may be stopped up. First using a thermometer, check the coolant in the radiator to make sure it's reaching operating temp. Grasp the heater hoses with both hands. If one is cold and the other is hot, water is not circulating in the heater core. Remove the heater hoses. Using a garden hose. connect to the outlet side of the core and back flush it with water pressure. If a lot of stuff comes out, that is your problem. If that's OK, the problem lies in the duct work and will be harder to fix. A qualified tech should be used. Hope this helps. Master tech 40 yrs.

Q: wipers not working?
replaced the motor for my wipers on my 1998 nissan quest they worked fine for about 5 minutes then went dead everything was replaced exactly as it was and checked the fuses , could it be a short or switch .

A: There seems to be too much DRAG in the wiper system. I would disconnect the wipers from the motor and move the arm by hand. You may need to grease the mechanism. Also, when testing, you may want to "wet" the windshield. If the drag or mechanical resistance is too great, a breaker may be tripped or the wiper motor may not be able to over come it. Check the friction or drag in the system first.

A: you can get a power inverter for your cigarette lighter that allows you to plug in something that has a regular electrical plug. These can be purchased at any auto parts store or electronic store and sometimes at walmart/kmart etc.

Q: 1998 nissan quest wiper motor?
The wiper motor is working but the wipers are not moveing is there a arm that gos on the motor to move the wipers and if so how do i get to it. thank you Bill

A: There could be a connecting arm that's missing, or there could be other damage. I had a gear inside the housing of the wiper motor assembly that got stripped out once. If I pushed the wiper arm, the wipers worked perfectly, for one cycle. The solution was to replace the $2 nylon gear, but you won't know until you go look. The motor and assembly are usually on the firewall under the hood, near the top. Turn on the wipers, open the hood, and follow the mechanism that is connected to the wipers back to a common point. Then just use common sense. Turn the wipers off before you try to tear anything apart, though.

Q: Electric problems with 1998 Nissan Quest?
My doors lock on their own since I owned the van. I took it to the dealer when it was under warrenty. They would not fix it. When it was out of warrenty, they worked on it and charged me $90. to fix it. It still don't work. I have heard other people having the same problem and the same luck getting it fixed. Do any of you have an idea what the problem is? When I try to get it fixed again, maybe I will know enough to keep from getting the run around again.

A: change the relay of the door locks. and clean the master door switch with wd-40 some times they get stuck or lose and they activate them self

Q: Nissan quest 1998 brake problem?
When I press on the gas pedal we hear a sound (like someone being choked and coughing). You can hear this sound from the inside of the car too. I even put the best quality gasoline there is. I took the car to get it fixed but the problem stays there or goes away for couple of days then returns. Could anyone know what the problem could be? Meant to say---Nissan quest 1998 gas problem?

A: fuel filter most likely

Q: 1998 Nissan Quest speedometer failure-head unit or sensor?
Mom's got a 1998 Nissan Quest with 130,000 miles on it. About a year ago, the speedometer started acting strange (a common problem with these older Quests; supposedly the transmission speed sensor). It works about half the time; otherwise, it shows 0 mph, 110 mph, or occasionally a completely random reading (ex. shows 30 mph when the van's going 70). So, yesterday I put in a new speed sensor pulled from another old Quest (with 191k) at the Pull-A-Part (don't worry, I bought the warranty). I drove it around for a couple minutes and the speedo never came to life. But today, Mom drove it all over town, paying attention to the speedometer, and only noticed it at 110 once, which is more consistent than usual, I believe. The transmission has never shifted oddly with the old sensor nor with the current one. So what the question boils down to is this: Did I probably just pull another sensor with the same problem as the old one? Or is it probably the head unit (actual speedometer) that is to blame for this? Right now I'm leaning toward it being just another bad sensor. Any input is greatly appreciated!

A: its call speedometer which is right, the circuits probably goes bad on the circuit board inside the speedometer, why not go to car wreck and put one and test, you dont need to buy it if the sensor was bad, it would trigger check engine light

Q: How much is an average cost to replace transmission valve body, my car is 1998 Nissan Quest?

A: Do it your self for about $100. Manual $30. you don't want to know what the shop will quote! Or if you do call em!

Q: How do I remove the interior door handle on my 1998 Nissan Quest?
There is no screw that I can find.

A: The previous answers reflect an antiquated general knowledge and DO NOT apply to this situation and should not have been offered since following that advice could cause damage.. The trim around the door handle has built-in plastic spring clips to hold it to the interior door panel. This trim may be removed by careful probing with and appropriate screwdriver to depress the two top tabs down and the two lower tabs up. After this trip is removed, the interior door panel may be removed and the door latch removed in the traditional manner.

Q: i have a 1998 nissan quest minivan and the coolant container is empty when i popped the hood to check if ?
i need to put water...what do i do next? should i drive it to the dealership or buy coolant and how much (liters) or ...?

A: just use some 50/50 mix. There is a reason they don't run pure antifreeze in there. antifreeze doesn't have the heat transfer properties of water. Running straight water will cool better but freeze in the winter. Antifreeze just keeps the water from freezing and it also has some additives that keep the water pump lubed and prevents corrosion. Top it off with 50/50 mix and just keep checking it. If you keep losing coolant get it checked out.

Q: I have a 1998 nissan quest. I need to know where the crank sensor is located?
