Q: what is 36k/ miles ?
i'm interested in a 2002 nissan quest se with 36k/miles for $8,495. Is this a good deal ? What is 36k/miles ?

A: 36kmi is 36,000 miles On a 2002, it is very low mileage, typically expecting 15k per year, or about 75K. If no deceit behind the mileage, the van is worth more because of less wear on the vehicle. Have it checked by a trustworthy mechanic.

Q: My brand new axle is making a clicking noise when I accelerate and turn. What's wrong?
I noticed both of my CV boots on my 2002 Nissan Quest were torn the other day, so I brought it to the mechanic and he said I needed a whole new axle. After he installed it, he test drove it in front of me. We both heard a very loud , almost like a rubbing noise (similar to the sound your emergency brake makes when you engage it) when he gave it gas and turned. He put it back on the jacks and said he bent something. Then he test drove it again and said it was fine. The past few days, I've noticed the same sound though. It happens usually in the morning when it is cold, and only when I am giving it gas and turning the steering wheel. How could this be happening with a new axle? It is not remanufactured. What did the mechanic do? The van did not make a clicking sound when I brought it in for the repair. It sounded fine, despite the CV boot tears. I was just being proactive.

A: It could be something rubbing the axel, possible that one or both joints are dry, or the wheel bearing is not tight. These bearing require more torque than the rear wheel drive vehciles. On your old axel you could have just gotten replacement boots and had the joints cleaned and new grease put in. This has solved my problem before when a boot ruptured and I had a clicking noise during turns. It turns out that if you catch the click sound real quick that you can clean the joint, regrease it and put a new boot on with no problems. I drove mine for a long time and never had to replace the joint. But the trick is catch it early. I don't think you needed a new axel.

Q: 2006 Nissan Quest or 2002 Ford Excursion?
We are a family of 4 and growing and are looking to upgrade from a 2005 Honda Accord. Now the Quest has 29,000 miles for $20,000 and the Excursion has 65,000 miles for $16,000. I need some advice on which one is best to get.

A: Go with the 2006 Nissan Quest because the Ford wont last.

A: Stop by a Nissan dealer and ask them what your options are. Then stop by a car audio installer and find out what they can do.

Q: My 2002 Nissan quest heater does not work.?
The last winter or two It only works when set on the hottest setting 90 degrees. Any other setting it blows cold air. This season lately it wont blow any hot air only cool. Sometimes if play with the tempature control I can get it work but again only in the hottest setting. I changed the termostat. Took it to a Dealer they 90% sure it is the ECM or something I might not heard right but I did hear $1,700.00 to replace it. I don't belive this is the proper diagnosis. Any Help?

A: it must be the blend door, or the control module/acuator that controls it. It directs the air to and from the heater core. The blend door is opened and shut when you change the temperature setting. And, if it is the ECM it probably has to be programmed. A lot of Control units have to be by the dealer.
