Q: My car overheated two days after the temperature gauge went wacky. What do you think it is?
So, a few days ago my temperature gauge started reading high...but then sometimes it wouldn't even register. My temperature on my car has always been fine up until now. A few days after my gauge went on again off again, the car overheats. It has also been loosing power, it seems. I was told to change the thermostat. What do you think? I have a 1990 Nissan Sentra.
A: Your coolant level may be too low - or perhaps you have an air lock that's stopping the coolant from touching the temperature sensor. If the car's running low on coolant, it can overheat without the gauge going up at all - in fact, sometimes it actually goes down. The sensor needs to have coolant touching it to register the temp - being surrounded by hot air doesn't make it work. It's also possible that your thermostat is jamming. When it jams shut, the car gets too hot (overheat), and when it jams open, the car cools too much (runs cold.)
Good luck!
Q: '93 Nissan Sentra Classic - What is the Model #?
I own a 1993 Nissan Sentra Classic up here in Ontario Canada. The vehicle looks identical to: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/ad/Sentra_1986-1990.jpg
I recently ordered a service manual online supposedly for the "1993 Nissan Sentra" but right on the front cover it mentions Model: B13 Series.
Can someone please clarify what model my 1993 Nissan Sentra Classic veihcle is so that i can purchase the correct service manual? Is B13 accurate for my vehicle or should it be B12 or other?
Is there a difference in service manuals for B13 and B12?
A: The vehicle pictured is a "B12" and these are different to the "B13" model
Q: Exhaust hole-1990 Nissan Sentra?
There is a dime sized hole in the pipe, about a foot from the muffler and the converter, right in the middle of the muffler and converter...what are some quick fixes to get it to pass smog?
Just want it to pass smog, I only need it to run for a few more months until I get a new car. Is there anything cheaper than exhaust wrap?
A: Can try exhaust wrap, but that stuff never lasts. Best to replace that section of pipe.

A: Yes and no..You can get any motor into any car depending if you want to cuy, change transmissions etc.The best thing to do from a financial posistion is the same size motor and make.Engines are not universal. You could go to a junk or salvage yard and get a 1.6 nissan motor. If you call the junk or salvage yard they will tell you what motors will fit your sentra. If you change motors other than size and make your looking at motor mounts etc.If you choose a different motor its like putting aa batteries in a aaa battery device.

Q: I have a 1990 Nissan Sentra. What years will the motor interchange?
Is there any other 4 cylinder motors of makes and models that will bolt in fairly easy?
A: 18 years old and she only smokes a little. Only the GA-16 motor will work and almost all GA-16 engines will interchange. Pulsars, Sentras 200sx all that use the same drive train. If you find a 2.0 liter motor you must also get the gear box and axles and ECM and engine wiring harness and that too will work.
new cars have saftey features like air bags and get better fuel milage have more power and drive and handle better.
Q: How do I check my transmission fluid on a 1990 Nissan Sentra?
I can't find a second dip stick anywhere, there should be one right? I thought my transmission was going out, but maybe its the fluid? I dont have the manual...
I have an automatic
A: The dipstick should be next to the brake master cylinder. It should have a black rubber handle on it. You will have to look for it because they seemed to try to hide it back then. Check the fluid with the engine idling in park.
Q: Does anyone know the torque setting for the cylinder head bolts of a 1990 nissan sentra?
At the moment I'm living in Thailand and there are no resources here that has this information.
A: Here you go. Motor oil on the head bolt threads couple of drops Tighten all the bolts cross ways circling to the last bolt to 22 ft lbs then tighten all to 43 ft lb loosen all the bolts This step makes sure all the oil is pushed out of the cyl head bolts holes you cleaned and blew out. NOW tighten to 22 ft lbs and if an angle wrench is available 55 degrees if you do not have an angle wrench 43 ft lbs is what nissan says. BUT from personal experence Many GA16 engines apart I torque to 50 foot pounds The 4 little 10mm bolts tighten those to 6 ft pounds. Cam shaft cap bolts 6.7 foot pounds to 8.7 foot lbs.
