Q: 1991 nissan sentra. Doesn't start.Bought car used and know it needs switch.Where are switches located?
Told it might be a neutral safety switch. I can do small things with cars such as change plugs, change oil, etc. I am lost when it comes to anything electrical. I don't know even how to locate the switches or relays. Would appreciate any help in lay language. Thanks alot.

A: whether it is stick or automatic the switch is on the side of the transaxle. On an automatic it is called an inhibitor switch. What is the car doing? Does it crank? If you can try to start it in neutral and see what happens. I would try to narrow the problem down more before trying to replace that switch.

i have a '91 nissan sentra gxe with power everything, but no power. the sunroof, windows, and radio have no power...but the headlights and other exterior lights work. I've checked all of my fuses, replaced the battery and checked connections and fuses, what else could the problem be?

A: It could be that one of the electrical wiring is loose, or damaged. Try getting it checked y a place that doesn't charge. LOAD OF MONEY SAVED =]

Ok. Car is a 1.6L 4spd Manual Trans. The engine light would beep periodically and the turn signals would not work along with the cabin lights. I am guessing it is some kinda electrical problem? A: The loss of power and the engine light beeping, makes me think this is a main power loose connection, like the alternator wire to the fuse box, or a fusable link on the firewall. Get a volt meter or a 12v check light and check for power loss. Or just wiggle wires under the hood. (not yank) Also make sure no wires are melted on the exhaust manifold. Maybe under the dash too. Ignition switch connections..etc.

Q: 1991 Nissan Sentra, passengers windows won't roll down?
I have a 91 Nissan Sentra GXE with power windows, but only the drivers window rolls down. None of the other windows will roll down from either of the switches. I tried switching the window lock back and forth with no difference. Would my best bet be to try a new motor? Or should I try and get a new controller? The locks don't work either.

A: Sounds like the power window switch and door lock switch needs checking out first then move onto the motors. 1991 was a very long time ago so hury get your parts while there still available at the Nissan dealership or wrecking yard.

I don't have my owner's manual and am very inexperienced with cars. I just want to make sure I don't put the transmission fluid in the brake fluid or something by mistake.

A: There are 2 dipsticks under the hood. One for engine oil and one for Automatic Transmission Fluid. Look for a dipstick with a red handle on it. Usually it's around the driver side. Make sure that the fluid at the tip is red and has a very unpleasant odor. Check the fluid level first. Trying running the car for five to ten minutes before checking it. If it's low, place a funnel on top of the Automatic Transmission Dipstick tube. Add Automatic Transmission Fluid through there and remove the funnel.
