A: Yes you can on the GA-16 Sentra remove just the A/C belt. SR-20 motors the A/C and Alternator are driven with the same belt.

Q: I have a 1992 Nissan Sentra,my wipers stopped working?
They don't try to move, and do not make any noise? How do I know where the ground wire is? I've had one loose before, but I'm not sure how to fix it myself. It's not the fuse. Just stopped working no noise, nothing.

A: could be a problem with the motor that drives the wipers, check your car manual and if you dont have one go to the local mechanic, cause its not a big thing unless the motor is done cause then it is gonna cost you like 200 bucks.... and one more lame answer dont drive in the rain...

A: in addition to what the guy above said, I would add follow the hose to an inlet on the right side of the cylinder head to an inlet with a bubble on it, take the three bolts out of it, you may need to tap on it gently, the thermostat is in there. MAke sure you also replace the gasket and use a thin layer of gasket sealer with it.

Q: 1992 Nissan Sentra Air Conditioning System?
My 1992 Nissan Sentra as a problem with the AC system. When I start the car and turn on the AC most of the time the AC compress will not turn on and blow cold air. Sometimes it will. When the compress does not engage and no cold air blows out the vents I reach in front of the passenger seat and below the glove compartment and bang the fan blower box a couple of time with my hand. This will cause the AC compress to turn on and cold air willl blow from the vents. When this happens and I have to shut down the car I will not turn off the AC at the dash control. The next time I start the car the AC will blow cold again. However this is inconsistent. Sometimes while riding the AC compress will turn off and will not turn on again unless I bang the fan box again. Is there some kind of thermostat in the fan blower box that is going bad? This makes on sense to me. Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated becuse I am trying to sell the car. Thanks Gus Gonzalez

A: there is a sensor in evaporator box that connects on the outside and the wire goes into evap assy sounds like that is your problem. it does connect behind glove box.. some times you can change by removing screws you can on box and try to french it in or worst case remove evap assy and split the cases

A: Sounds just a bit high to me. What is the car doing? A plugged exhaust may cause higher than normal compression readings while making the car run poorly. Nominal compresson for a 1.6 liter is 155 psi and no more than 15% difference so from 142 psi to 170 psi. Most engines that have run that long would be around 145psi

Q: what is the biggest engine i can get into a 1992 sentra (nissan) of curse?
the car is manual and it has a i4 1.6l i with 200k miles it needs a new one how much and what is the biggest engine i can put in there? i don't think a v8 but a v6 or i6 is it possible?

A: Size doesn't matter so much with a Sentra. The Sentra is front wheel drive and even if it fits a big giant V8 will just make it easier to spin the tires not to go faster. If I was you I'd probably look into getting an SR20DE to replace your stock GA16DE. The SR20 is a 2.0 liter engine, it's all aluminum, has a pretty good aftermarket support and came stock on the Sentra SE-R of similar age. You can make more power with a SR20DE with a Turbo (or the Japanese Market SR20DET which is factory turbo) than your drivetrain can possibly get to the ground. Whether it's possible or not a swap of that nature would be alot of work and a waste of money.

A: i have a 93 and the size is 4x6 but its not on a mounting plate, if you do buy new ones, go with a high quality speaker and do not put alot of power to them, this size simply cannot hadle it

I have a 1992 Nissan sentra with the small 1.4L engine in it and it is overheating. I have replaced the water pump,thermostat, and flushed the system out completly...can anyone tell what I am missing could it be the radiatior, the heads or what. And how do I check to see???

A: well if you arent losing coolant, i would check your exhaust to see if it smells like coolant also check the oil for milkiness. If so for either sounds like a head gasket...you can get your radiator flow tested at a specialty radiator shop to see if it is clogged...it is also possible that your new thermostat is faulty, I have run into that more than once. Also make sure your radiator fan turns on...you may have an electrical problem. Good Luck

Q: What could be causing noise in my 1992 Nissan Sentra?
The noise only occurs at 35 mph or above and it varies according to speed. It is not coming from the engine but from somewhere in the front suspension area. It is not coming from the transmission, it is a slight bumping noise but the cv axles are brand new, the wheel bearings have already been checked. The engine runs fine with no pinging or valve noise at all, the oil and filter in the engine is changed at regular intervals. What could it be?

A: In hindsight, the front McPherson struts and tower top bushings or bearings should have been replaced when the CV axles were replaced. If there's any mechanical play in the strut cartridges and strut isolator mountings, you'll hear an annoying bump or rattle when the suspension moves up and down quickly. However, a shop technician should be able to raise the car about 2 feet off the ground on a lift and then be able to move the front wheels forcibly to see if there's any movement under the hood at the shock tower mountings.

A: Pull the cable loose at the transmission and spin it between your fingers see if the spedo jumps a little might take a second observer. The gear in the transmission may be worn out or the instrument at the dash defective or just a cable.

A: i dont think a job like that would be considered step by step, even for the most exp. mechanics, i would save the trouble of buying parts and other special equipment as well as do it yourself labor/time. and simply send it a auto shop for faster, no worry qualified job
