Q: I own a 1993 Nissan Sentra why wont the brake lights go off, unless i unplug the battery?
A: check where the brake pedal meets the switch. sometimes there is a plastic piece that fits onto the brake arm and it is the stopper for the brake switch. they break easily especially after time. if that is it ,all you have to do is find a small bolt and nut and thread it through the hole in the brake pedal. its tight in there. if thats not it the switch could be going bad or need adjustment.
Q: where can i find the gas tank door release for a 1993 nissan sentra?
A: Junkyard. Cheap and quick.
Q: I am being sold a 1993 Nissan Sentra 4 door for $800, is it a good deal?
it seems to be in good condition, im confused
A: Sweet Deal, just make sure it checks out mechanically.
Q: how do you install a radio with NO wire harness on a 1993 nissan sentra?
A: You can find the instructions here.
http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/Nissan/PDF/647033.pdf
Q: On my 1993 Nissan Sentra, three of the tires are size P175 but one of them, the front left tire, is P185?
Is there a problem with having one tire that much of a difference?
A: Put the odd tire on the back of a front wheel drive car ! P185 ain't the tread width !
Q: Is $1500 a good price for a 1993 Nissan Sentra Sedan with 206,000 miles?
Im looking to buy a car and I fount one. And was wondering was the price reasonable for the car with that many miles. Any information on cars would be appreciated.
A: I would suggest that you not pay more than $300 - $600. It depends on whether it is the entry model or top model.
Not knowing which model you were interested in, I chose the intermediate model (4 dr, automatic, GXE Sedan). Kelly Blue Book lists it around $1500. In my opinion that is way too high, which is usually the case for Kelly Blue Book appraisals. Edmunds suggests around $300. These are for private party sales. You can expect to pay a little more if you purchase from a dealer. I attached the links for both sites below.
As a reference, last year I sold my '93 Mitsubishi Galant to a student for $800. It had 130,000 miles, a 2 year old rebuilt transmission, new brakes and rotors the day before I sold it ($300), no rust, only one dent, but the interior was a little rough. I could have sold it for about $1200 because of the recent work, but I wanted to give the kid a break.
If the Sentra you are considering had 120,000 miles or less I might suggest spending up to $500 - $600 more. Of course it all depends on which model you are interested in. The 2-dr coupes may cost more. I did not do any research on them.
So do a little research on the links I gave you and also check Consumer Reports for their rating on the model and year you are interested in. With that information you should have a good idea of what to pay.
Good Luck!
Q: What type and capacity motor oil should be used on a 1993 Nissan Sentra XE?
A: 10W-30W or check with a Nissan dealer in your area.
But I am certain of the grade, I once owned a 1990 Nissan
and this was all I used in the engine that traveled more than
172,000 miles for me..
Q: How can i retrieve the fault codes from a 1993 Nissan Sentra?
A: You need to find some one that has a scanner but it is old enough that it is a specific cable only to Nissan's. The government steeped in 1995 & made all cars sold in the US to be OBDII compatible so that a universal scanner & plug will do most everything. You can try Advanced Auto or Auto Zone they both have scanners & will do it free of charge.
Q: How do I release the tension of the drive belts on a 1993 nissan sentra?
A: I go to a dealer and have them do it u needa specal tool that nissan dealers have.
Q: Why is my 1993 Nissan Sentra getting poor fuel economy?
My car has 123,000 miles on it.
I have a 1.6L engine with a 4-speed automatic with overdrive.
With the A/C off, it gets 24MPG; with the A/C on, it slumps down to 18-21MPG.
I have replaced my air filter and spark plugs; my fuel filter appeared to be okay.
My car is really slow. I have utility vans and buses pass me while I'm accelerating from a stop. It's not so bad without the A/C, but even then the acceleration isn't very good.
My engine is supposedly rated for 110HP, but it isn't putting out nearly as much; my girlfriend's Ford Probe has 110HP and it out paces my car without even trying. If you floor it, it downshifts and revs really loud but still hardly goes anywhere.
The engine sounds fine and doesn't sputter or anything. My parents' are getting 27MPG from their 2.4L '96 Altima and 27MPG from their 2.0L '90 Camry while I'm getting 18-21MPG from a 1.6L engine, the smallest of all of these.
Here are some more details.
For the person suggesting the thermostat is bad, my radiator has a crack in it and leaks constantly while the car is on. The car does not overheat.
I have checked the tranny fluid and it's at the proper level and has no blackening.
I have tried fuel injector cleaner with no results.
I bought a K&N air filter. It helped a little, but not much.
I changed my spark plugs and three were beige in color, indicating normal fuel mixture. The first spark plug was white (indicating lean mixture) and had oil leaking into where it screwed in.
I've had all my belts replaced and none of them were for timing. I have a dual overhead cam, so I don't believe I have a timing belt anywhere...
Perhaps it is a plug in the catalytic converter?
A: Has the timing belt been replaced? It should be, one at every 60,000 miles.
Check for a clogged exhaust system, it can cause the lack of acceleration.
running the AC on older cars will rob gas mileage and horsepower.
New cars are more accurate in gas consumption due to advances in computers and sensor manufacturing. You have to expect that the older the car the worse the gas mileage.
Also, remember that engine displacement is equal to horsepower and acceleration.( the smaller the engine the weaker the power)
Q: How Do I Replace a 1993 Nissan Sentra cv axle Boot?
How Do i Go about replacing the cv boot? Do I need any special tools to drop the axle?
A: The hard part is getting the axle out. It's pretty much the same labor (actually a little more to replace the boot). If you take it to a shop it actually costs about the same. If the boot is ripped then you probably have grime and water entering the joint and it may be wearing out. I would replace the axle and save yourself a headache.
Q: How much to fix or buy an alternator for a 1993 nissan sentra?
I think that my alternator is going in my car becuase it keeps draining my battery. How much will it cost approximately, to have it fixed, or to buy a new one?
A: $150-200 with core
not that hard.
test it first, it could be a number of other accessories draining the battery-like a faulty radio
start the car at night
turn on headlights
rev the engine
if the light brighten then fade with engine revs- replace alternator
Q: Can i lower my 1993 nissan Sentra using the original stock coil springs?
I'm just wondering because i heard a couple of my friends lowering their cars without buying coilover kits.
A: you could cut the springs, but you have to know what your doing. had some friends cut them on one of there cars and they took to much off, and now the ride is bumpy as hell and it bottoms out all the time. there pretty screwed if you aske me. I wouldnt do it if i were you, plus its a nissan sentra, why u trying to make it look more like a tuner.
Q: What size tires do I need for my 1993 Nissan Sentra?
I just bought a 1993 Nissan Sentra just like my first car! However on my first car I had 17 inch rims but I can't remember what the tire size was it was between 205/40/17 or 205/45/17 which ever is the smallest and if there are any smaller that will fit on a 17x7.5 rim please let me now thank you!
A: The original tire size on your Sentra if it has a 1.6 liter engine was P175/70R13 82S. If it is an SE-R then it came with P185/60R14 82H tires.
205/40R17 XL 84H tires would be the correct size to use and you need to run 41 psi in them front and rear to compensate for this low-profile tires much lower load carrying capacity compared with the original tires fitted at the factory.
Q: How do I get the door panel off of a 1993 Nissan Sentra?
I have to replace the driver's side mirror of my 1993 Nissan Sentra. Can anyone talk me through taking off the door panel without screwing anything else up?
The door doesn't have power windows, either, just manual. I've taken all the screws out, but it's still giving me trouble. What am I missing?
A: After removing all screws 1,remove clip from window winder handle, use small screwdriver or a good trick is to put a hand kerchief between the winder and door panel and pull it around the winder it will remove the clip, put your fingers between door panel and the door and pull panel towards you all the way around until panel is removed ,lift up the top of the panel to release it from the top of the door ,make sure all screws are removed first. good luck
