A: i will not recommend you to do it unless your confident enough. before pulling the unit you will have to unclick or remove the dash kit surrounding it. then you have to unscrew the unit from inside and then use clips supplied with the head unit (very hard to describe without diagram)then it can be puled out. don't use pointed equipment or you may damage/scratch the dash

A: You can buy a chilton or haynes manual on the car, it will tell you most of what you need to know, alot of cruise controls work off vacuum, so run the engine and lisen for a hissing sound, if there isnt one, than check the fuses, if they are fine, the cruise control box needs to be replaced, should be a black box by the firewall.

Q: i have a 1997 nissan sentra and my windshield wipers quit working. How do i fix it?
they were working then stopped . it makes a noise like it wants to work but nothing happens. help they are calling for rain and i have to be at work in 2 1/2 hours..

A: One of the arms has fallen off the wiper motor or the center pivot and you are going to have to remove the blades and the cover over the wiper transmission (cowl cover) and reinstall the transmission arm over the ball stud that it fell off of. On Monday call the Nissan dealership for the transmission arms they aren't expensive and will stay attached unlike your worn out ones.

My car is 11 years old, the manual advised 5w30 - 10w30, I have been using 5w30, but i am thinking that i should go to 10w30 or higher considering it has 150k reading on the odometer. any disadvantages using something else?

A: Why change from what your car's owner's manual specifies? Use synthetic oil.

I just purchased a 1997 Nissan Sentra from a friend that has 200,000 highway miles on it. When we bought the car, he informed us that the A/C does not work and that he had it checked out and there was to much freon in it? What does that mean? He says he never had freon added to this car.

A: I would watch the A/C compressor while the motor is running have a friend turn the A/C on does the ac compressor start turning? lowest front pulley inside turns? If the Compressor does not turn on check the Air Con fuse in the retangle box next to the battery. If that fixes the problem fine, If not take the car to a repair shop to have the A/C system checked for leaks and recharged. I almost never see a A/C with 200.000 miles so much overcharged it does not work. Your system holds less than 2 pounds R-134. Due to high pressures and the chance of injury I reccomend professional repair for A/C work.

Q: My 1997 Nissan Sentra would stall when on stop sighs, traffic lights or stucked in traffic?
My 1997 Nissan Sentra was working well. But couple months ago it just happenned that when I stopped at the traffic light or got stuck in the traffic, it would suddenly started trembling like gasping for air, and sometimes it would pass, sometimes it just totally stopped... I can always restart my car, but this really bothers me what if one day i can't restart it and i stucked on the freeway traffic... I really love to have this issue of my car resolved... A: thats why you keep the clutch down or put it in nuetral... haha. automatic right? replace your plugs, wires, and air filter: theyre cheap anyway. if that doesnt help... then go to a mechanic. it may save you a few hundred bucks if that does it cause mechanics make a big deal out of everything and tell you its something big to fix and charge you mad money. stay away from local, private mechanics and garages. if you have to, go to know places or the dealer.

Q: Where is the fuel filter and fuel pump located on a 1997 Nissan sentra and how do you change them?
My car smells like gas all the time. Someone told me that it could either be a clogged fuel filter or a malfunctioning fuel pump or a malfunctioning fuel injector. I want that horrible smell gone so i want to replace these two parts first and see if it helps! Thanks

A: usually 4-6 mine in nissan maxima 1991 have 6 and are located in the fuel rail on the top of the engine. Look it up or ask a mechanic, I am a girl and i know that one i would have to see it to tell you. Or what yugie said LOL

Q: How much should I pay for a 1997 Nissan sentra that has no distributor?
The distributer has been removed by someone who was hired to install a new one. Not only did the job not get done the original distributor is gone . How much do you think the car is worth as is?.

A: 500 bucks. How do you know the engine isn't blown? What if it needs new rings, head gasket and a new fuel pump and water pump? As far as you know someone could be unloading it on you. Why would the distributor "mysteriously" disappear. If you don't know this people be very weary cuz you could be buying someone else's problem and this car can become a money pit for you. It could end up being lot more than you would have wanted to spend on it. Good luck.

Q: I bought a 1997 nissan sentra that wont start. anyone know of any good free web sites to help me troubleshoot?
I replaced distributer and haven't been able to start it since. I get gas, spark, timing is good, battery is good. I checked all the fuses and wires? can anyone give me some ideas?

A: Check and make sure your distributor isn't 180 degrees off. If it is, the timing will appear to be accurate. Pull #1 spark plug out, and put your finger over the hole while a helper bumps the motor over. Or better yet, use a remote starter switch with the key off. Try to get it to stop just as the timing mark is about to line up, and your finger is getting pushed off of the hole. Then check your rotor position. Q: How to replace a thermostat on a 1997 Nissan Sentra.?
I would like to know the location of the thermostat within a Nissan Sentra and steps on how to replace one. I think its on the passenger side of the engine, where the belts are located. Online pictures of it's location and replacement would be helpful. Thanks

A: Side of the engine and get the correct gasket and or the correct sealer, don't short cut and try to make a gasket.

I have a 1997 Nissan Sentra GXE, and when we got it, it had no owner's manual. I know what we have to do to get one. I just think it's easier to ask motorheads. A: There is a cover on the valve cover, take this cover off. You will see plug wires and coils, the plugs are directly underneath. They are down in the valve cover about 3 to 4 inches you can't miss them once you get the cover off. Good Luck
