Q: What would the cost of replacing front wheel bearings + inner or outer tie rod ends for a 2000 Nissan sentra?
I am trying to calculate a budget within my tax refund. I aksed a question a few minutes ago regarding replacing brakes and the worst case scenario. This repair came up under worst case scenario for steering wheel shimmy and vibration. Just trying to figure how expensive this brake job will be if it unearths something unpleasant. (want to know how much of my refund to set aside for the not-so-fun spending!)
A: The tie rods will cost you about $70-$100 each, and figure about 1 hr labout to install (each). You will Require a wheel allignment after this is done ($60). The wheel bearings is different. If you have ABS brakes and / or traction control, they can cost over $300 each. if not, they should be less than half that. Again, about 1 - 1 1/2 hours to install (each)
Total cost (worst case , about $1000)
best case maybe $600
Q: The overhead light, trunk light, and powerlocks all do not work on my 2000 Nissan Sentra. Whats wrong?
While changing the trunk light bulb there was a little spark, and those 3 items above no longer work. The powerlocks bug me the most because now i have to use my key to get in. I'm guessing i blew a fuse.....How do i fix this problem!?
A: Check fuse number 13 in the underdash fusebox. It should be a red 10 amp fuse. The fuse box is under the dash by your left knee when sitting in the drivers seat. This fuse is for the interior courtesy light, the trunk light and the power door lock control.
Q: Where can I purchase a Head Light for my 2000 Nissan Sentra?
I only need a new casing for the right side...I have all the bulbs and tools? The catch is I only have a very limited amount of money. And I can't travel far (looking for a place within the San Francisco area to go)
Thanks!!

Q: ok how many oxygen sensors are there for a 2000 nissan sentra GXE?
I replace the catalytic converter. I would like to know can oxygen sensors be cleaned and how? Is there more than one and were? thx.
A: Usually, two O2 sensors for a car like yours. One before and one after the catalyst converter.
Q: How to remove factory stereo from 2000 Nissan Sentra?
I know how to install the new stereo, but I need instructions on how to remove the old one. Please be as technical as possible.
A: Trust me.......Go to the junkyard
Q: How do I remove an aftermarket stereo from a 2000 Nissan Sentra?
I totaled my car and want to be able to remove my aftermarket stereo from it before sending it to the scrapyard. Any websites with a detailed description, or would I be best off just doing an install guide in reverse?
A: I have an 02 sentra and have taken the stereo apart many times. Use the instructions in reverse its real easy. Pull the compartment on top off, and then pull the plastic off the bottom by the shifter. From there it is all just unscrewing the screws.
Q: What is the worst case scenario of the price of a brake job on my 2000 Nissan Sentra?
I know NOTHING about cars, but I know that it's not going to be a cheap brake job. My car has 88,000 miles on it...I had the original brakes replaced 3-4 years ago, when the car reached around 40,000. My brakes are not squealing or squeaking (other than the brake pedal itself when you take your foot of the brake)...However, my husband and I agree that it's about time for new brakes.
My husband thinks it won't be that costly, because to him the brakes are not horrible...but to me the fact that I got new tires less than three months ago and the steering wheel vibrates/shimmies when I have to slow down from high speeds is an indication that I will more than likely need new rotars and/or drums. I am an automotive repair pessimist though...Anyway...I like to be prepared for the financial worst case scenario.
By the way, Thus far, with sudden stops, I haven't had to press hard on the brake to make my car come to a complete stop.
My brakes aren't "down to the floor", so to speak.
Also, I don't have antilock brakes.
(my tires are not due for an alignment yet...The steering wheel has been shimmying/vibrating for a few years....When the tires were replaced, it subsided to happening only when I have to slow down from a high speed.
A: Worse case scenario? The pads will be worn to the point where you have metal to metal making gigantic gouges in the rotors, which will have to be replaced at $75 each, and when doing that they will discover your tie rod ends are loose and need to be replaced.
But if that were the case you would hear the expensive sound of metal to metal when you attempted to brake, and your steering would be loose and your car would wander on the road. lol.
Did they balance the new tires when they put them on? I suppose your rotors could be slightly warped, but could probably be turned to true them up if they are.
You'll soon know, and I suspect be surprised in a pleasant way.

Q: To change the ECM on a 2000 nissan sentra 1.8 GXE CA.. does it matter if the ECM is auto or manual?
My 2000 sentra GXE CA radiator fans will not come on automatically so there grounded to a switch to pwr on manually...the dealer states that the code reads thermostat function which they changed and cleared the code but the fans still wouldnt pwr on when the engine gets hot. They hooked up a laptop to the ECM and states they can turn on the fan manually by sending it commands from the laptop. The dealer also tested the engine temp sensor, and fan relays works just fine. The dealer is recommending to change out the ECM...now does it matter what ECM to use whether if its auto or manual, can i replace it with either??the reason why i ask is because im having a hard time locating a used manual ECM, new ones are pretty pricey.. i can find an auto ECM at the junkyard but need more info if it will work on my manual sentra..any nissan techs or anyone who had experience with this similar issue out there that can help shed some light???
A: they're different computers man. If you have a manual, then you need a manual...
Q: How do you service the transmission on a 2000 Nissan Sentra?
I've read that a transmission flush is not necessary, but changing out the filter is. My transmission fluid looks pretty dirty. I haven't had any transmission service completed since I got the car in 2000. Is changing the filter just as easy at changing an air filter or is it more involved?
A: If you tranny pan has a drain plug, drain the fluid, and refill the tranny. Measure what you took out and put that amount in.
Drive it a few hundred miles and do it again. This will get new fluid into the tranny and torque converter.
The filter is just a screen, and I doubt it is clogged or dirty. The pan must be removed if you want to clean it.
Q: How many oxygen sensors does a 2000 nissan sentra have?
Anyone know how many o2 sensors a 2000 nissan sentra has? It's the 1.8L 4 cylinder engine. I am thinking it's 4 but am not exactly sure. you have the upstream ( above the catalytic converter) and the downstream (below it). If it does indeed have 4 do you know which one would be bank 1 on the downstream? Thanks in advance.
A: It has 4 O2 sensors
sensor 1 bank 1
sensor 2 bank 1
sensor 1 bank 2
sensor 2 bank 2
Looking at the front of the engine from left to right , bank 1 is cylinders 1 and 2 , the sensor before the cat is sensor 1 bank one, the sensor after the cat is sensor 2 bank 1
Q: Location of a crank shaft sensor in 2000 Nissan Sentra?
I need to know where the crank shaft sensor is and how it may cause the car to function if it goes bad. I have a 2000 nissan sentra GXE with a 1.8L engine.
A: The crankshaft position sensor (POS) is located on the cylinder block rear housing facing the gear teeth (cogs) of the signal plate at the end of the crankshaft. It detects the fluctuation of the engine revolution. It may cause misfire or no start conditions. Book time to change it is .4 so not to hard to get to.
Q: I have a 2000 Nissan Sentra, can someone share with me what might be wrong with it?
What is wrong with my car? I have a 2000 Nissan Sentra and,.....When I put the key in the ignition and turn it over, the engine starts fine. I press the brake and then I press the shift button while holding the break in and attempt to shift from park to reverse or park to drive and it remains stuck in park. The car is not parked on a hill and the E-brake is not locked in. This isn't always the case, sometimes the shifter stays locked up like this and sometimes it unlocks out of the blue or is unlocked without any problems. Anyone got any possible insight?
A: Under your steering column there is a panel take that panel off and you will see something like a bar or lever you need to push or pull or may slide from one side to the other or like i said either push or pull the lever to unlock it one of the two good luck and have a nice day.
Q: What is wrong with my car? I have a 2000 Nissan Sentra and,...?
What is wrong with my car? I have a 2000 Nissan Sentra and,.....When I put the key in the ignition and turn it over, the engine starts fine. I press the brake and attempt to shift from park to reverse or park to drive and it remains stuck in park. Anyone have any possible insight for me on this one?
A: If the car is parked on an incline (on a hill), you may have to pull rather hard to get the parking pawl teeth to disengage.
If it still won't come out of park, then there is something wrong with the solenoid activated lock that is supposed to release the shift handle. You can over-ride it this way....
Look for a key slot on the console near the shifter. Set your parking brake so the car won't roll. Insert your key in the slot on the console near the shifter. You should be able to pull the lever out of park into neutral. Now remove your key, put the key in the ignition and the car should start. It will start only if the shifter is in neutral or park.
If you have to do this every time, you need to get it fixed. It's probably a bad solenoid or switch and not too expensive....
Good luck!
Q: 2000 nissan sentra intake air temperature sensor location?
where is the intake air temperature sensor located on a 2000 nissan sentra
1.8 engine
i know it should be between the throttle body and the air intake but i dont see it.
detailed description would be great or even a link to pictures thanks in advance
A: Ahead of the air filter box between the battery and front fender just behind the left headlight. Two wire plug and sensor in the cold air duct. That area gets dammaged in traffic accidents sometimes.
