I am considering getting a nissan xterra from my dad. i originaly wanted a jeep but my dad said i could have the xterra. with the right parts and work can it be a farley good off roader. i live in big bear so i need something for the snow. it is a v-6 but its supercharged so its got some kick. any way do you think its an ok suv?
A: It is a strong mountian goat. With jeep like tire wheels and "Old Man Emu" suspension lift it will out preform many Jeeps. Just get used to high gasoline consumption while off roading a couple 5 gallon cans on brackets is reccomended. And roll bar inside the truck. Drive slowly off road and you will dive back home. Drive fast hit something roll over and pay huge repair bills and get a tow 20 miles back past Victorville. Apple Valley Arrowhead. I used to live in Upland.
Q: How does the Overdrive button work in my Nissan Xterra?
When I start my 2002 Nissan Xterra there is a light on the dash that comes on briefly and it says OD OFF. There is a button on my shift column that is supposed to be the overdrive button. When I hit the button, nothing happens. What is the point of this button. Is there supposed to be some type of indication that the OD is working.
A: The O/D Off light should come on when you push the button on your shifter. If it does not you may have a bad relay.
Q: How do I remove the front speakers in my 05 Nissan Xterra?
I'm trying to figure out how to remove the front speakers (and later the rear) on my 05 Nissan Xterra. Do I have to remove the entire door panel? If so, how do I do that?
A: yes the entire door panel will have to be removed for this. remove all screws around the perimeter of the panel and from there its gonna take you lifting and pulling away from the door at the same time to remove the panel
Q: What is front part of nissan Xterra roof rack used for?
Just bought a used 2001 Nissan Xterra and I was wondering what the front part of the roof rack is supposed to be used for? Also can it be removed?... It kinda makes it hard to wash the part underneath roof rack. Thanks for any information
A: Wind deflector or drop in lockable basket that is also available. Get a fleecey wash mit no one looks under that rack anyway.
Q: how much would a supercharger be to buy and install on a 2006 nissan xterra?
i need speed in a car. my dad has a nissan xterra that i could buy from him and its fairly quick for an suv but most of its acceleration happens at the higher RPMs in that car. so i figure if i could bring power to the lower rpms by putting in a super charger it could go from a 7.5 second car 0-60 to about a 6 plus some other upgrades that i may put on it.
my other option is just getting a used mustang GT or 350Z but i would be paying more since i could buy my dads xterra for cheap. probably less than 15 grand.
A: Unfortuately, it's not quite so simple as bolting on a supercharger. You'll have to make numerous modifications to make it work properly, and the cost to do so will run into thousands of dollars.
If you're really determined to have a fast car, you'd be much better off buying what you want already built. By the time you finish spending on the Xterra to make a supercharger work, you would have spent less buying something already fast.
Q: How big is 65 cubic feet, the cargo area in the back of a Nissan Xterra?
I am looking for a good van/small suv for both, the use for my pet sitting business and personal use. I prefer something that i like and that doesnt use a lot of gas. Do you think the Nissan Xterra is a good idea? Big enough for crates in the back? Even for Great Danes? Thanks..
A: I would suggest looking at the vehicle in person and measuring your crates for your dogs.

A: You cant go wrong with the exterra, I bought one in 04 and love it even though it's not the most fuel efficient thing on the road it has plenty of power, looks great and I've had 0 trouble with it, just standard oil changes. recommend it very highly
Q: What is the purpose of the Panic button on my keyless entry for my Nissan Xterra. Is it an alarm?
I just bought a 2002 Nissan Xterra and since I have always driven old cars with manual everything, this is the first time I have ever used a keyless entry remote. There is a panic button and when I hit it the horn beeps until I turn it off. Also, on the inside of the truck there is a red light that blinks and it says the word security above the light. Is this supposed to be an alarm system. If so, how does the alarm get triggered. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
A: Welcome to the 21 century! Yes your alarm system qualifies for your insurance discount. Roll down a window set the alarm wait 45 seconds reach in unlock the door from inside and open the door the alarm will go off and while the alarm is activated you will not be able to start the car.. Pushing lock and unlock buttons will set the honk to arm mode and pressing both buttons again will cancel the honk to arm feature.

Q: Dashboard lights and headlights are dim on Nissan Xterra. what could it be?
I got into my car a few minutes ago and noticed that my interior dashboard lights (radio and speedometer) are both very dim. I can hardly see them. Also, my headlights aren't as bright as they usually are. It is 8:45 PM here. What could this be?
I have an 04 Nissan Xterra, 30,000 miles.
A: I'd say you either have a battery going bad or you flicked the dimmer switch. Not sure how the dimmer switch is set up on the Xterra, but I have an Altima, so it might be similar. The headlights are controlled on the right hand switch that extends from the steering wheel. On the left side of the steering wheel, up on the dash, there's a rotary switch that you can turn up and down - that's the dimmer. Try fiddling with that and see if it helps. If not, have your battery checked.
Q: transmission fluid how much does a 00 4wd nissan xterra take?
I need to replace the tranny fluid on my girlfriends 00 Nissan Xterra its a 4wd automatic I know its easy to change the fluid but I am hearing it takes different amounts of fluid one says a few quarts another almost 3 gallons. I am only doing the trany for now can anyone help me?? thanks

Q: Is a Nissan Xterra a good car for a new driver?
I can drive in about a year and I really want an Xterra. Some people say it wont be safe for a new driver, its too tall. What do you think?
A: i have a 2002 it is 4*4 if you get one the wheels are good but then the seats are hard and hard sterring but it can go places but dont be like me and get stuck in a dirt water pool about 500 kiloliters because aaa wont help you but if you want go for it just dont finance with them
Q: How do I get the light off of my Nissan Xterra to change the bulb?
I'm having trouble getting off the left rear light on my Xterra to change the bulb. The manual tells you to take out to bolts and take the cover off , but it does come off easy and I dont want to break the light pulling it off Help!
A: look for a hidden bolt on it,,sometimes they have bolts you cannot see right off,and it may have a gasket on it that is making it stick a little also,i have never had one of these out before ,but i mechanic for a living ,and the ones i have done usually have a bolt that you cant see and they will stick sometimes,,good luck with it,hope this help,s,happy new years.
