Q: Nissan Xterra 2000, Where is the fuel sending unit located?
Nissan Xterra 2000 6 Cylinder 4x2 Automatic

A: It is in the fuel tank, as a part of the fuel pump Assembly.

Q: sensor question 2000 Nissan Xterra?
my 2000 Nissan Xterra, V6 4x4. is giving me codes for a bad throttle switch, knocking sensor, and O2 sensor. in the hopes of saving money, is there any chance the throttle switch could be throwing off the other two sensors?

A: If the Throttle position sensor is bad it could cause the engine to run lean and show an o2 sensor bad and also cause the engine to knock. I would replace the throttle position sensor and then have the check engine codes deleted and then take a test drive to verify that everything is working correctly. Good luck

Q: Supercharger for 2000 Nissan Xterra?
Does anyone know how much horsepower or torque you will get if you add a supercharger to a 2000 Nissan Xterra? I have a 4wd v6.

A: First things first you cannot just add a blower to a Xterra VG-33 engine compression is different than and computer is different than the VGR-33 engine. There are other superchargers that might work better with intercoolers. Procharger comes to mind. Torque and horse power for the nissan unit is somewhat disappointing still under 220 horse power but torque is up by 30 lbft. the way Nissan did there blower was just give the heavy trucklet a kick at lower speed to get it moving. Safe and as engine speed increeses the blower cannot push as much air as the engine can inhale on its own. Larger crank pulley and smaller blower pulley helps.

Q: How much should I pay to replace the clutch and Radiator in my 2000 Nissan Xterra V6 and can I do it myself?

A: Uhh I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself, unless you know what you are doing, and have the right tools to do it. A lot of modern car manufacturers have been making cars more and more difficult to work with on purpose, that way people take their cars to mechanics to get fixed instead of doing it themselves. Nissans are really really similar to Fords, so if you have worked on a ford explorer, or expedition or escape then I think you could probably do this, Clutch is another thing altogether, you are getting into powertrain, and if you have a problem with powertrain you better really know what you are doing. I don't know what your experience is so I can't say, but to me I know what a clutch is, I know how it works, and I know where it is on my vehicle. If you mess it up, you can mess up the engine and the transmission.

Q: Do you think that the 2000 Nissan Xterra SE SUV is a good car for a teenager?
It has pretty good gas mileage and not that fast and doesn't have much horsepower. It also has a price of about $8,000 to $9,000 so it's pretty good. Please Answer!!!

A: are you the teenager? if so then no, too much money to spend on both upfront cost and gas, as well as insurance. go for something like a 4 door firefly or caravan. if your a parent buying it, yes he/she will be very happy and should concider themselfs thankful to have such nice parents

Q: why does my AC on my 2000 Nissan Xterra go in and out?
The AC blows ice cold air when it works. the problem is if you run the AC then turn the vehicle off between 15 minutes to about 2 hours it will not work. I can drive for over an hour and it will work but it seems that when i turn the vehicle off for a little bit it doesn't want to work. Is there a sensor that may be causing this?

A: a sensor could be the problem but look and make sure you have good electrical connections to the a/c compressor. sometimes they like to short out and cause major problems.

my car had been doing fine.i turn it off now it is wanting to crank but it isnt getting now fire to the distubutor?

A: It may be the fuel pump connection corroded at the pump under two covers right rear seat bottom lifts out fold the carpet foward. There is a recall for that problem and the repair may be free. Tow it to Nissan NTSB recall # 04v-230 and Nissan # R0401 and R0402. Clean all the junk out of that back seat first.

Q: why windshield water pump will not work on a 2000 nissan xterra?
when i turn on front windshield washer, i can't hear the water pump turning on. however when i turn on the rear window washer, the pump kicks in and water sprays out in the back. already checked the fuses. they are fine. the spray nozzles in the front dont appear to be clogged and the cant see any kinks in the water line.

A: check the connections on the wiring on the plug and also check to see if the motor will actually run it may be burnt out, that's the most used one of all and usually its the one that goes bad first,it could just be a bad motor on it,good luck.

Q: 2000 Nissan Xterra maintenance question?
I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra with 110K miles, this is my primary vehicle. I would like to know what maintenance I should do other than the regular maintenance. I regularly change oil, oil filter, rotate tires, allign wheels, top all fluids, change wiper blades, check break pads, etc. Should I plan for any engine or transmission maintenance to keep it running well.

A: Change Differential/Third Member Fluid, Check CV Boots for Damage, Replace if Needed. Change Transmission Fluid & Filter.

Q: how long should it take to replace a crank shaft position sensor on a 2000 nissan xterra. thanks?
Just need to know an approximate time to replace the crank shaft sensor on a 2000 xterra, and what's involved. Can it be done by an armchair mechanic- namely me-

A: Usually they don't go bad for a long time. You have to check to make sure that it isn't giving the pulses to the computer to tell if it is bad. No reason to change it if it is good as they aren't cheap. Most cars nowdays mount them near the harmonic balancer and a few have them on the transmission bellhousing. Never having seen one go bad on an Xtera, or a Nissan truck for that matter I can't advise you as to where it actually is. your manual will tell you that. It is basically a magnetic assembly that pulses a tiny current as teeth on either the harmonic balancer or the transmission bellhousing go past it. That tell the computer where the crank is in the cycle and which plug/injector to fire. Unless it is behind the harmonic balancer like some of the old GM's then it should be a rather easy job. Usually a couple of bolts and unplug the wire once you get access to it by removing belts or covers in the way.
