A: I've had a couple of customers with this vehicle. I would recommend it as a good 4x4. Drives nice and no problems so far. I would consider buying one if I was looking for SUV.

A: if you just go to a advanced auto parts they would be able to change it for you other wise use a phillips to remove ie fro the socket after lifting the hood.

Hi. I bought 4 New tires about 3 months ago. I've been noticing the front tires are balding faster. I checked all 4 tires and the front tires are balding on the outside part of it faster than the rest of the tires. Is this normal? And is this the reason it is recommended to rotate the tires every 5000 miles. My car is a 2001 Nissan Xterra with 65,000 miles.
What can I do to fix this problem?

A: you may want to check with the dealer cause if you are under a certain mileage it may still be covered under a special extended warranty from nissan. they replace all 4 regulators under this warranty for free. if not, its just as simple as removing a door panel and a few screws!

I have a 2001 Nissan Xterra and the mileage isnt so great so i was wondering what overdrive does. The default of the car has overdrive on but im not sure what it is. Will it save me gas if i turn it off? When its turned off, a light comes on by the speedometer so idk if that means that it should probably be off or what. Please help!
A: Overdrive allows your car to go into its highest gear, such as fifth, with it off, you will be running the engine at higher rpms, successfully killing your gas mileage and not helping the motor either. By the way, the Xterra's i have seen only get around 15 miles to the gallon, but it varies how you drive. Remember its an SUV not a hybrid.

There is no much that you can do, the trick is, get rid of it for some more fuel efficient or put up with it.
As best if you baby the vehicle you might get like 2 more miles per gallon. Lets face it, the car has the Aero of a brick, the weight of a full size sedan, the load of a truck and the space of a medium size car or a very small minivan and the insurance is much higher than a car.
Now as a grocery getter is like using a sledgehammer to put a thumbtack.

A: It's in an option package or a dealer-installed option. Your Xterra didn't get ordered with them or get them put on. The best place to get them is eBay or from a local salvage yard. Full price is a little steep. Of course, you can get aftermarket bars nerf bars that are made to fit the same. Again, check eBay or Froogle.

Just haul your butt down to another nearby shop and ask for a written quote for the same work. That way you know its competitive.

Sometimes while sitting at a red light it feels like it's about to stall on me? I just bought the truck. Someone made the suggestion that it could be the throttle sensor? I don't know. I hope there is a cheap resolution to this!
I should also note that the 'check engine soon' light just came on as well.
A: take it by auto zone and let them scan the computer on it to see if it has any trouble codes stored in it,if it does it will tell you which sensor is bad and may be causing this to happen,the scan is free,so you really don't have anything to loose by doing this,and it only takes a few minutes to do a good scan on it,all it may need is a good tune up,you said you just got it,so a good thing to do would be to check all the ignition related components like the plugs and wires,they made need replacing,good luck on it.

The heater only works on high (4) and I got the part and want to install myself. I'm having trouble removing the glovebox so that I can get in to replace the part. Anyone know how to do this?
A: you do not need to remove the glove box to replace resistor, look behind glove box you will see resistor held in with 2 phillips screws, unplug remove screws reinstall ok

I have a 2001 Xterra. I bought a trailer, and already have a tow hitch on my car, but can't seem to find where to plug the trailer into. I can't find anywhere that has the "plug in"...any advice? No Wisecracks please!
A: It's possible that your car has a hitch, but was never wired for trailer lights. It's also possible that the previous owner got tired of seeing the trailer light plug hanging down from the rear of the car, and removed it, or tucked it up out of the way under the bumper or into the taillight wiring harness.
If you can't find the flat four-pin connector anywhere under the rear of the car, then you'll just have to have another one installed. Check with a local auto parts store to see if they have a harness that just plugs into your existing wiring, or you can have wiring done by any shop that installs hitches.

A: try crutchfield.com. there is a section "what fits my car?" it'll ask you a few questions and then give you the sizes. also you can buy through them and they send you everything you need to install them(detailed instructions on removal, installation and even wiring harnesses for the speakers so you don't have to cut your factory lines
