Q: How to remove wiper arm on 2003 nissan xterra?
I was on the way to work and snow from the roof slid down onto my windshield, the wipers were in the up position coming back down. Well i heard a pop on the driver side wiper and it would move but when going left it would go past the wind shield. I can lift the arm up(like when replacing blades) and it will just spin. THe passenger side works fine. I need to replace the arm but I dont know how to remove it. Help!
A: most times when that happens the knurling on the wipers transmission strips, hopefully it did not damage the wiper arms under the cowling, most times you can just tighten up the bolt under the cover a little and it will work,if not email me at kneedeepkz650@comcast.com and i can fax you a copy of the alldata repair sheet,it will show you exactly what you need to do to repair the problem.just let me know.
Q: My 2003 Nissan Xterra is overheating, what could be the problem?
I've already changed the thermostat, the water pump and the radiator. the fan is working properly.
I have to turn on the heater to lower the engine temp.
V6 engine, salvaged. was working perfect for a yr.
A: I would check the timing !! If one engine bank is out and the other one isnt it would cause it to over heat!! Also before you check that did you already check the coolant temp sensor ?let me know thanx
Q: Something rattles when I accelerate in my 2003 Nissan Xterra?
Whenever i accelerate, between 1800 and 2200 rpm, something in the dashboard rattles, maybe the engine or windshield, but it drives me insane!!!!!. I love my Xterra and i just need to know how to fix this.
Also, it is a V6 non-supercharged, fully loaded
A: Check your wind deflector on the roof rack. They are know to loosen and make a racket.
Q: Is a 2003 nissan xterra a good reliable vehicle?
I was thinking of buying one bc I want an suv and like the looks but my last car was a cavalier and it broke down a lot so i'm weary of other vehicles. The i was looking at has 80000 miles, is that to me is does it really matter?
A: dont buy an suv, you don't need it.
Q: i have a 2003 nissan xterra and it seems that i have coolant leaking from the throttle body? is this possible?
my x seemed to be overheating without warning the other day so i took it to my mechanic and he has told me that there is coolant leaking from the throttle body, nothing he had ever seen before mind you, so now i have to take it to the dealer which costs an arm and a leg. is this problem common with nissan?
A: There is a o ring on that brass colored idle speed kicker. At Nissan we replace the idle Wax element under the throttle chamber the two coolant hoses to the throttle chamber are challenging.
Q: 2003 Nissan Xterra still leaking coolant after 3 repairs by Dealer ?
I asked for help about a month ago on leaking coolant from my Xterra. Few people mentioned intake manifold and freeze plug. It has been back a total of 3 times. Twice to fix intake gasket and once for tempurature housing. I think it is leaking again. Any suggestions on what it could be and any thoughts on who to contact at Nissan USA to get resolved before it costs my more time and money.
A: Hi My friend I found some information for you at Nissan Xterra Recalls U.S.A. There is quite a bit of information at this web site. I think this will help you.Good Luck ROSCO
Q: I have a 2003 nissan xterra which is overheating. I've tried changing the thermostat but thats not the problem
what could be the problem?
A: Several thing can cause overheating.
The Fan belt may be loose
The water pump may be leaking
The radiator may be clogged (unlikely but possible)
The timeing may be off
Blown head gaskets
Clogged exhaust
Q: What is the gas mileage of a 2003 Nissan Xterra?
A: You don't purchase a SUV that is shaped like a brick for gas milage. Aerodynamic it is not the faster you drive the more wind resistance. Many of my owners install larger tires and wheels that only makes the 3.3 liter work harder and get less milage. Some owners say they get only 13 MPG and I prove them wrong by filling up at the gas station just till the nozzel clicks off on the freeway onramp. I use the cruise control and go 60 miles an hour drive 15 to 20 miles turn around go back to the same pump fill up at the same pump nozzel clicks off again and prove the Xterria can get almost 25 mpg if driven very carefully. Or 13 MPG around town idling at traffic lights A/C on and using way to much throttle. Stuff on the roof really kills gas milage as does extra weight inside the Truck.
Q: In my 2003 nissan xterra the cigarette lighter doesn't work. The fuse keeps blowing out. ?

Q: 2003 nissan Xterra turn signal don't cancel?
I just bought a 2003 Xterra and am having problems with the turn signal light switch where it don't cancel on turns at all times Only intermittently.
The dealer replaced the Multi-function switch, but that did NOT fix the problem.
They are at a (don't know what to do next) scenario.
Has anyone had this problem?
Please let me know at what degreee does your vehicle signal swith cancels, for example at quarter steering wheel turn (90)degrees, at half steering wheel turn (180)degrees, or at 3/4 steering wheel turn 270 degrees, or full turn.
This is after you make the turn and the steering wheel is back at center straight.
Mine when it cancels it will cancel from (180) degrees after you make turn to a full turn Intermittenly. So it is never at same degrees.
The dealer service manager says they should all cancel at (90)degrees. Mine don't and don't know what to do next.
This is a safety issue with me.
I would hate to go mile after mile with signal light blinking if I forget to cancel it manually.
Your comments are greatly appreciated,
A: If it's still under warranty have the dealer fix it. They sold the vehicle with this problem they need to fix it. Consumer reports rates the electrical as excellent.
Q: Used 2003 Nissan Xterra?
I just bought a used 2003 Nissan Xterra yesterday, 3/22/07. It has 41,000 miles on it. I just put gasoline in it this morning, and now notice that the check engine light is on. If it is the gas cap that is causing this light to be on, how do I make it go off??? I am disappointed, and don't want to be so early with this purchase. Can anyone help me?
A: Don't sweat it. An Xterra with only 41K miles is barely broken in.
If your gas cap is cracked it should be replaced. If it's not, just make sure it clicks 2-3 times after you close it. It often takes a couple days for the light to go off.
If it doesn't it is possible the previous owner/ dealer may have cleaned the mass airflow sensor with carb cleaner, which is a no-no. The car will run okay and it won't hurt anything - it could use a touch more fuel. There is a special MAF cleaner sold at Autozone.
I'd take it to where I bought it and nicely ask for their pledge to cover whatever the problem is. Most people or dealers understand that things that happen within a week are things they should work with you on.
Q: Ihave nissan xterra 2003 4 wheel drive. How do I change the cup slider on the center console?
A: there is a releace somewhere on it buy the new one and look at it to see it
Q: Has anyone owning a 2003 Nissan Xterra experienced airbag failure during a rollover?
A: Airbag sensors are on the front of the vehicle and not necessarily meant to go off during a rollover. I don't believe they places sensors to make air bags go off during a rollover.
Q: 2002 or 2003 nissan xterra?
anyone have any feed back on the nissan xterra years 2002 2003 models?
A: the 03 has a few more refinements to the engine and chassis
better front seats
Q: 2003 Nissan Xterra airbag follow up question?
Thank you for your responses. I should have mentioned that my passenger side airbag deployed. Are the sensors for that airbag also behind the headlights? Does anyone have an explaination for the deployment of one side but not the other? Thanks!
A: No Nissan Tech can tell you exactly why one bag pops and not the drivers side. However you will have to replace lots of parts now. The pass bag and the passably the control unit under the console then read the codes and see if the drivers air bag shows open circuit. There is a crash sensor on the hood latch brace or core support. And seat belt pre tensioners blew also.
