Q: transmission fluid for 2004 nissan xterra?

A: auto or standard?

Q: I can't seem to find any cold air intakes for my xterra that is a (2004) 2.4 L engine?
2004 Nissan Xterra 4cyclinder (2.4L engine)

A: John Paul strikes again. You have the KA24DE engine. Guys are topping 1000hp over on www.ka-t.org in their 240sx's (same engine) You engine bay is different but since the engine is the same I know it will respond very well to a cold air intake. I had a Injen cold air intake on my 97 240sx for a year before I went turbo. Made great power and added a nice roar. NEVER had a problem with the air flow sensor and no check lights. Boost that biatch!!! There is a special truck section over on www.ka-t.org If you want you can ask the guys at nicoclub.com about an intake

Q: 2003 Ford Expedition or 2004 Nissan Xterra?
Looking to buy either one of these cars...any suggestions?

A: They'll get about the same gas mileage. Personally, I would go with the Expedition....it's so much nicer!

Q: Any thoughts on a 2004 Nissan Xterra?
If anyone has had any experience with this vehicle, I would appreciate the info. It's a stick shift, 4X4.

A: Good combo manual and 4x4 Motor Trend liked the Xterria. The new ones are better. Yours has the dependable 3.3 liter engine many I work on have over 160,000 miles with just a radatior timing belt and water pump. 100,000 mile tune up. Off road every bit as good as a Jeep Liberty

Q: how do i program a 2004 nissan xterra key fob?

A: With the doors closed, try inserting & removing the key into the ignition lock cylinder 6 times within 10 seconds.....hazard lights should flash twice,re-insert the key, turn to ACC., press any button on the keyfob....hazard should flash again. For additionial remotes( up to 4 ) W/the key still on, lock then unlock the doors with the lock/unlock button on the main (drivers) door switch, then press button on other remote(s). opening the drivers door ends the procedure.

Q: 2005 Nissan Xterra S or 2004 Nissan Xterra XE?
I'm plan on trading my 05 Honda Civic with 57,000 miles for a Nissan Xterra . Test drove it yesterday and they both seem great. The 05 has 76,000 miles for 14,999 and the 04 has 59,000 for 12,000.

A: You do know that gas will be at least $3.50 again in the next year, right? The '05 is the new body style and also has the 265 HP engine. Way better driving experience. Both should be equally reliable if they have been taken care of. It's a tossup here, as both have their advantages and the price is better on the '04 with better mileage. I would take them both to an independent mechanic and have him/her tell you which one is the better buy.

Q: Your experience with 2000 - 2004 Nissan Xterra?
Looking for a used Xterra 2000 - 2004 model, what are the problems you had with your Xterra, how is the maintenance, parts? What about Xterra off-road abilities? Is it really good off-road as it was advertized? Share some of your experience with this truck. Thanks

A: The Xterria that won the most recent Motor Trend and off Road magizines Truck of the Year is 2005-2006. 4.0 liter 265 horsepower really puts the 3.3 liter 169 horses to shame. It is up to you features like hill decent control and VDC really will help keep it under control.

Q: the rear 12 volt outlet in the cargo area of my 2004 Nissan Xterra won't work, How can i check the fuse?

A: By removing the fuse and wrapping it with a thin layer of foil and putting it back in its socket, if the out let becomes active then you know that the fuse was bad, if it does not become active then you know there is more to the problem then just the fuse.

Q: 2004 Nissan Xterra or a 2004 Dodge Ram??
I cant afford insurance on a new car, so im going used with liability. its down to 2 trucks, 2004 Nissan Xterra 4x4 or a 2004 Dodge Ram DoubleCab SLT 4x4 a 4.7 or 5.7L engine They both look great, about the same gas mileage. So Im looking for and asking this. What would you think is a better buy. I plan on hitting the beaches, river, camping, hiking and possible dirtbike riding. Is it hard to park a full size truck and how is backing up? Ive driven an Xterra, just a test drive but it was fun, so how about the difference in riding and handling of the two. I could really use some expert advice or experienced answers. Thank you -John

A: Get the Ram.

Q: 2004 Nissan Xterra CD Player (Best Answer???)?
I have a friend with a 2004 Nissan Xterra It has the stock manufactured AM/FM and CD player double din She put a CD in it, it worked for a while, and now it won't come out Where can I find the reset button or fuse that I could press or pull out to get the CD to come out??? Anybody have any sort of experience with this??? An answer that works will receive best answer

A: when you remove the power from the radio (fuse or disconnect the battery cable) The first thing the radio will do when power is restored is eject any CD that may be in the unit. If that does not work, the radio will have to be taken partially apart to remove the CD. Some factory radios will lock out when the power is removed. Check the owner's manual for the location of the radio unlock code if it has one. If it locks out and you don't have the code, you will have to take the vehicle to the dealership to unlock the radio, and they will probably charge you to do it.

Q: Muffler For 2004 Nissan Xterra?
I'm looking to put a flowmaster Muffler on my 2004 Xterra and do not kno what size i need to get. Does anyone know..or know where i can find it online? Thanks!

A: Please investigate the Gibson Exhaust Part numbers 12214 and 612214 A complete cat converter back system has 2.5 inch tubing with out the rough bends and made from stainless steel so it is a lifetime system. Just adding a free flowing muffler won't make much difference if the tubes are 1.7 inch in places. The system comes complete and hangs right where the stock system is.

Q: 2004 Nissan Xterra vs 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?
Both with 50,000 miles, Both cost around $13-14k(our limit). We need a reliable SUV with O.K. gas mileage. 1. My Girl and I are going to go on camping trips, hitting the snow, beach etc... 2. We already have a 99 escort as a commuter, everyday vehicle 3. We want something that is roomy and looks good at the same time. 4. We Plan to keep the vehicle for about 4 or 5 years. Which is a better buy and why? Is there another SUV in that price range?

A: Nissan will be more reliable, get better gas mileage, higher resale value and is a more capable off roader. Grand Cherokee mileage is 13 city, 17 highway, 14 combined Xterra V-6, 4WD is 16 city/ 19 highway, 17 combined.

Q: Does anyone know the radio wiring diagram for a 2004 nissan xterra?
I just need to know what wires does what like what color are the speakers wires and the power and ground and the aux wire and what the other wires do

A: The12volt.com or install-dr.com may have the schematics for it ---if no Xterra schematics, try a truck schematic...should be the same wiring colors or try Wirediagram.com for a small fee.

Q: 2004 nissan xterra xm and ipod hookup?
is there a way to get xm radio in a 2004 nissan xterra ? what about an ipod hookup? like would be helpful (: thanks **links, not like

A: i have a 2004 nissan xterra as well...if the radio has the cassette player in it you can just get one of the cassetts that come with the wire that hooks up to the ipod. if it doesn't have one like mine didn't your only option is to buy a new radio that you can hook up to. like the Alpine or Pioneer models. you buy the radio that is mp3 compatible and then you buy a wire seperatly that hooks up to it. it's a little costly but worth it i like my new radio.

Q: What is a safe towing weight for a 2004 Nissan Xterra?
My parents are going out of town for a camping trip and are planning on towing a camper (approx. 2800 lbs.). Their only towing vehicle (1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager) was totalled in a accident on Sunday morning and so my boyfriend offered his '04 Xterra for them to drive. He is concerned, though, about the weight of the camper. He towed a "medium-sized Uhaul" when he moved about 2 years ago and said it almost ruined his power steering. We looked up towing capacity and it should be safe but I would like to know for sure. Thanks!

A: If your car manual says that it is safe, then it was tested for that weight and it is safe.
