Q: How do I install Sirius in my 2006 Nissan Xterra?
I would like to hide all of the wires. I also don't know what I need to do to remove my Radio from the dash to hook it up. Please help!

A: I work at Best Buy as an installer. First thing you want to do is run your antenna... At work we usually run them behind the weather seal on the dashboard and then through the firewall and back up where ever your installing it at. Once you've ran the antenna, the next step is the power. On older sirius units that run of 12v you can simply cut the cig. lighter part off the power wire and hardwire it to an 12v accessory somewhere or another, but on the new sirius units that run off 6v you have to pop the cig lighter piece open and run 2 wires off the end... Honestly this is a lot of explaining and I hope I haven't lost you already. Sirius install at Best Buy is 71.99... I would highly recommend doing it there... Also, if you purchased a new Sirius unit, MAKE SURE you buy the sirius fm modulator relay (30.00) but you'll thank yourself later for it... keeps static and channel bleedthrough out. Hope that's somewhat a help...

Q: I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra with a blinking airbag light, Does anyone know what it could be?
And now the VDC OFF light stays lit even after pressing the button to turn it on.

A: VDC SLIP ABS issue any recent steering wheel or audio system repair or modifications. Some time just disconnecting the battery with the steering wheel turned will cause a Anti lock brake steering angle sensor system malfunction. Air bag light may be anything from the bags them self's to the pertensioners in the seat belt reels or air bag controls. ABS and air bag codes are not available to the independent service shops. Most likely still covered by warranty or your extended warranty. Get the Xterria into the Dealership so a Nissan Technician can check it over.

Q: would it be better to replace a 2006 nissan xterra's muffler with a flowmaster muffler or an exhaust pipe?
the exhaust pipe is cheaper but its not a muffler. is there a difference in power or sound??

A: Well without mufflers the car will be much louder. In certain states it's against the law to modify your exhaust system and repairs should only be made using the proper replacement parts or equivilant. However, most states also dont check for this and could care less unless you car is seriously loud. The flowmaster muffler uses metal baffles strategically placed to deflect sound waves while allowing the exhaust to still breath freely and offers superior flow compared to restrictive stock mufflers which in return offers a performance gain. That gain however on a stock Nissan Xterra will probably only be minimal in the range of 3-9 horse power and the only difference you will see is that the car has a different note to it over the stock muffler. You wont be able to really feel a difference with that minimal of a power gain. When it comes to back pressure, the rumor is that you need some to help your engine run properly, but thats where people get confused. When all the cylinders combined expell the hot exhaust gasses into the exhaust system, they create a flow through it and work in sequence to allow proper space for the expanding gasses to evenly mellow out and flow to the point where it causes pulses in the exhaust system. This is caused by the gas pulse exiting at the end of the exhaust system. It creates a suction for the pluse of expanding gas coming out behind it and, making a chain reaction for all continuing pulses which in end allows the exhaust to actually flow out instead of rather being pushed out. Simply put is that there isnt really a need for back pressure, you just need the exhaust to be the right diameter and length to be in tune with the engines performance potential. Too big of pipes are better then too small of pipes, however nothing can beat a properly tuned and correct size exhaust system. So if a $60 flowmaster muffler is worth the rumbly sound go for it, but if not, then i would recommend a stock muffler. A chopped exhaust even on a stock V8 doesnt sound very performancy (i have tried it lol) so i cant imagine that an engine smaller like the Xterra's wouldn't sound any better. Hope this helps:)

Q: How can I get more engine power/acceleration on my 2006 Nissan Xterra?

A: Actually at 265 horsepower the Xterra and Frontier are the most powerfull V-6 engined midsized Suv and Trucklet. Unless you accidently bought the 170 horsepower four cyl. Do what we performance junkies all do install a cold air intake system and cat back exhaust system. About 10 15 horsepower gain. When high flow cat converters are available put them on when you find long tube headers. Add another 5 10 horsepower. And cool exhaust sound too. With any modifications factory warranty is at risk. I reccomend a dyno tune to the engine controls after each big upgrade to remap the fuel injection .

Q: Can a 2006 nissan xterra tow a pop out camper?

A: Reese has a couple of class 3 hitches available for the Xterra for under 200$, and a couple of wiring harnesses that will plug in either behind a taillight or under the bumper on the right side, that you will also need for towing. As far as capacity, your Xterra has a 5000lb towing capacity, greater than the GVWR of every pop-up I have ever seen.

Q: 2006 Nissan Xterra Squeaks?
Has anyone had any spueaks coming from their 2006 Nissan Xterra? It sounds like the suspension. But I looked up squeak and Nissan on google and got something about the fuel pump. I don't know much about cars, but that sounds weird to me. I want to find out if anyone else has had problems before I go to the dealership. It's still under warranty, but you know... collaboration is a good thing.

A: If its under warranty just take it in. Probably suspension, but it doesnt hurt to be safe.

Q: 2006 Nissan Xterra SE 4x4, power steering failure?
Has anyone else had the power steering go out on their Xterra? Mine has 21,000 miles. Powere steering went out yesterday out of the blue, I've never had any other problems. The dealership is replacing the entire steering column (under warranty). I haven't been able to find any recalls, just curious if this has happened to others.

A: Have you hit up Nissan's site for recalls? I would also suggest hitting up Nissan Enthusiasts sites and pose your question.

Q: Cup Holder for 2006 Nissan Xterra?
The cup holders in my 06 Xterra are way too big to hold your standard soda can, bottle of water, cup of coffee, etc. Does anyone know if there is an attachment that I could place in the existing cup holder that holds smaller sized beverages? Thanks.

A: Yes!! There are suppose to be inserts that go into the cupholders for smaller drinks. They are made of black rubber and will fit perfectly. You can get them from your nissan dealer or a salvage yard. Your Xterra should have come with them from the factory, if the dealer left them out then you may get replacements for free!!

Q: What are the best tires for 2006 Nissan Xterra - RWD for (snow, ice & rain)?
Reside in Michigan Good durability - something that will handle well! I travel up lots of hills to and from work. Secondly, I have to drive up into my garage. Thirdly, I reside on a stretch of highway salt trucks don't usually service. I REALLY appreciate all recs'.

A: i have BF Goodrich All Terrain TA tires on my Nissan Pathfinder and i love them. they are great for any weather, hence the name of the tire. i look forward to bad winter weather with those tires.

Q: what would win in a race, a 2006 nissan xterra or a 2000 gmc jimmy?
my xterra has a 4 litre v6 engine with a performance intake by k&n so ive got about 270 hp as opposed to the stock 265. i dont notice much of a difference other than gas mileage but there may be a small difference. the gmc jimmy has a 4.3 litre v6 but it only puts out 195 hp, but its lighter i suppose. it will be a street race.

A: What kind of race? Rally? Drag? Drift? Slalom? And no, you putting an intake on your truck did not increase you from 265 to 270. It only increased your wheel horsepower. So you still have the 265 at the engine that you are rated at. Also, the mileage increase is probably a placebo effect. Your truck averages around 17mpg, in the city. Even if the air intake itself increased your mileage by 10% (unlikely), you would only see 18.7mpg. Or, in other words, instead of 100 miles taking 5.8 gallons, it takes 5.3. If you really noticed the difference of 1/2 gallon over 100 miles, I'd be impressed, lol. Other than that, you didn't specify what sort of a race, so there's no help to give you. Edit: Street races are illegal. Try again.
