Q: The 2009 Nissan Xterra was said to be in dealers in July of 2008 What happened?
Because im going vehicle shoping in a couple of weeks and hope to purchase a 2009 Nissan xterra off road edition.
A: Over $4 a gallon happened. That has slowed SUV sales Nissan has an over supply of 2008 trucks. I suspect some time after September 2009 Trucks and Xterria. GTR was just released and new Z soon Maxina 2009 in dealers now Nissan is caught up in the same economics as the rest of the world.
Q: Nissan Xterra 2008?
I am thinking about buying one because I need a mid-sized suv for work. I kind of like how it looks, though it is kind of ugly.
If any owners could give me their opinions would be awesome.
What kind of monthly payments are you making, I have a 720 credit score if that helps.
Thanks!
Oh and also, how reliable is it, have you had any problems with it messing up?
A: I have never driven one, but i would reccommend a different vehicle. I prefer Honda's, but they don't really make a SUV that attracts to younger buyers like you. I reccommend buying a used Toyota 4runner. Toyota makes reliable cars unlike Nissan. Nissans are known for their cheaper looking interiors and the sporty, but low quality exterior. I know someone that is selling a for runner in NEW*** condition for like 14 or 15 grand.
Q: how much better gas milaige will a cold air intake give my 08 nissan xterra?
i have a 2008 nissan xterra and im thinking about buying a cold air intake im told they give better gas mileage but not sure... please help me out
A: it may... it probably will... but how much if any depends on your driving, whether you pay attention to it or not or you drive faster from the xtra power or not.
Q: 2008 Nissan XTerra... why is my check engine soon light on?
This morning while going to work, a little circle light came on in my nissan xterra. It had like a little exclamation mark in it kind of like (!) with zigzags on the bottom of the exclamation mark. Then on my way home from work, that light is still on AND my Check Engine Soon light came on.. that made me worried.
I checked everything... the gas cap is on tight, it doesn't need an oil change, I've had no problems with the car until now, but it's still new so the engine light worries me... what could it be?
I can't find the book to check what the exclamation light was... i looked through the whole car.
I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow, but i was hoping someone could give me an idea of what might be wrong.
A: (!) mark is check your instruments, In this case it means to get the check engine light looked at. I am willing to bet you need a fuel tank sending unit because the trouble code will be that of a fuel level sensor malfunction. This should be covered by WARRANTY. If your fuel tank is less than 1/4 when you take it to the dealership we won't have to drain out the gasoline. The check engine light illuminates anytime there is one of 400 malfunctions that may cause more emissions or a safety issue. Good Luck Do not clear the code and get it to the dealership soon.
Q: 2008 Nissan XTerra... what's going on?!?
This morning while going to work, a little circle light came on in my nissan xterra. It had like a little exclamation mark in it kind of like (!) with zigzags on the bottom of the exclamation mark. Then on my way home from work, that light is still on AND my Check Engine Soon light came on.. that made me worried.

A: The first light you mention is the tire pressure monitor. They are designed to come on if one or more tires has less than 28 pounds of pressure. Get a tire gage and go to a gas station and fill the tires to 32 pounds. You will then have to drive the truck for a minimum of 10 mins at 16MPH or higher to get the light to turn off. Some times it may take longer if it's cold outside.
The Check engine light means the computer has sensed that something is wrong with the emissions system. If you have an Advance Auto Parts near by they can scan it for free and tell you what the code is. If the gas cap was lose, and you have tightened it, the light will stay on till the code is cleared.
Q: 2008 Nissan Xterra OFF ROAD Model?
I am seeing all these posts of the Xterra getting18 to 23 MPG. The Government fuel MPG tests say 16 to 20. I bought a 2008 OFF ROAD model which has transfer case, locking rear differential, hill descent control and other mileage robbers the other models don’t have. I get 11 MPG on dirt road and 15 on the highway. I live in the Arizona hot desert rural community so I don't get city driving. I never had a six cylinder get such poor mileage. Every thing else I like. Runs good on the highway. Good suspension and steering for being a true off road machine, I say off road because it truly has a truck type ladder frame... only Toyota FJ Cruiser and the Xterra have ladder frames in SUV’s. The question I have, comparing apples to apples does every one with the OFF ROAD Model with the 4.0 liter 5 speed automatic get such poor mileage?
Thanks,
pdclay
A: Just depends how heavy your right foot is. I get complaints all the time and take the customer for a highway only economy run. Things on the roof really kills mileage driving in lower gears also kills mileage. EPA and Government gas mileage is done on a dynometer however the latest government mileage is closer to reality. Most the time I do a Highway economy run 2005 to 2008 Xterrias get 20 to 21 MPG driving with the cruise control. The power you have to have for climbing rough terrain and lack of aerodynamic wind resistance at high speed also kills off gas mileage. P.S. My cousin has a GMC Jimmy 4x4 full time AWD and it gets approx 13 miles a gallon on the highway at 70 mph. Allow the engine and drive line break in and at about 10,000 miles change engine oil to 10/30 Mobil one full synthetic you may gain another mile or two a gallon. Everything sounds about normal with your Nissan Mountain Goat Xterria.
Q: how much gas does a 2008 Nissan XTerra's gas tank hold?
A: 21.1 gal
Q: When will Nissan release information on the 2008 models?
I'm looking to order/purchase a 2008 Nissan Xterra and I'd like to do some research (pricing, options, new features, etc). Anybody KNOW when this information will be released? Thanks!
A: For the Xterra you might want to wait till August or September. The Titan, Pathfinder and Aramada are all due very soon as well as the Altima Coupe. All are 08 model years.
Q: 2008 Nissan XTerra: Service Engine Light Already? Only 600 miles!!?
So just bought a new 2008 XTerra one week ago today. As of right now it has 600 miles on it and tonight the check engine light came on...I'm worried because the whole reason we both this car was because the last one's engine failed...What could this possibly mean at only 600 miles?? It's NOT the gas cap. We've already checked for that.
Well, I'm going in today at 2pm. The service guy basically said that it was very strange that my light came on and he wants to see it.
This is MORE work to take off after having missed 1.5 days last week because our ONLY car's engine died. Work's going to love this, yeah, I have to take my car in at only 600 miles...Nice.
My husband also agreed the oil should be changed soon because the engine is new...
A: Come on In get to know a service advisor. It is probably a Vent control Valve issue. Some Nissan assembler put to much grease on that part and it malfunctions. And even if you checked a loose gas cap it would take a week of driving somtime to have the Truck test the fuel system and turn off the check engine light. It would not hurt to have the first oil change done at 1000 miles either.
Q: Which vehicle should I buy and why: 2008 Nissan Xterra or 2008 Nissan Altima?
Price is close enough to not be a factor.
A: "Be careful not to leave this car out on the sun too long!"...
...Good God! Don't listen to Adam D's Answers.
Do you need an SUV? If not, get the Altima.
The Altima will get way better gas mileage, be cheaper to own and easier to drive.
Q: 2008 Nissan XTerra or Toyota 4Runner?
I am about to be either buying or leasing a new car. I have narrowed the selection to 3:
Toyota 4Runner
Nissan XTerra
Toyota Highlander.
I am trying to decide which is best. Can you fill me in?
A: The Toyota will hold better resale value, if that matters to you.
Q: Is my 2008 nissan xterra ipod compatible?
I just a bought a 2008 nissan xterra and it does have the front little hookup thing like alot of new cars do. Is there a place on the back of the cd player to hook up the auxillary cable?
A: that lil hook up thing is the aux. ha ha, that'll work jus fine wit your ipod.
Q: Which car do you think is an overall better car? The 2008 Nissan Altima or the 2008 Nissan Xterra?
This car will be for a teenage girl.
A: well i have an 2005 altima,and i think thyre the best cars ever made....so altima :)
Q: Are leather seats an option on the 2008 Nissan Xterra?
I know the 2008 Nissan Xterra doesn't have an option for leather seats, but can you have them installed after market? Has anyone done that with success? Is the quality good?
A: Aftermarket leather seats are available for the Nissan Xterra with only one letdown... if you have the Side Airbags on the seats you can not have leather put over it.
Q: Can I get Sirius Unit with the Technology package on the 2008 Nissan Xterra?
Apparently, even after the merger, it will be years before you can get Sirius channels on XM units and Vice Versa.
I am buying a 2008 Nissan Xterra with the technology package. It comes standard with XM...is it possible to have the dealership swap it to a Sirius radio? Or is there a convertor type cable I can buy? Where would I buy it? Thanks!!!
A: Yes you can. It is especially easy now to get the dealer to do things for you since the market is so bad for them. Even if they don't have one is stock, they can order one or get one from another manufacturer. If you want they will probably buy and install one from a local stereo shop. They are willing to do almost anything to assure a deal.
